Anybody that can make food look sooooooooooo crunchy delicious and mouth-watering gets an automatic "no fridge judgement" pass card... dear lawd those look so mouth-wateringly good.
I was having a very similar thought. Even other day-to-day things were standing here and there, and it makes it all feel more honest (and relaxed). It's just her home kitchen, and it's nice to see a real, "active" home kitchen as it would look like.
Wow. This looks AMAZING. I have never seen oyster mushrooms being sold like that, I can only buy them in packages already separated. 😢 but I’d think I could still replicate the taste, if not the visual of this recipe…and so it’s on my “to try” list! Thank you for sharing!
My husband calls the smaller, separate pieces (when I can't find the larger clusters in stores) vegan popcorn chicken! I've tested other vegan oyster mushroom recipes and both the larger and smaller pieces are absolutely delicious. Looking forward to trying out this recipe.
wtf is this comment then if you really do not want to judge keep it to yourself don't say it ,don't think about it but if you do these and want to say i don't judge others then you are wrong cause you do judge others just like you did it with this comment of yours and so if you want to judge someone judge them be honest about it and judge them rightly , don't be afraid to speak the truth and don't be a coward who doesn't want to listen to his own fallacies and wrongdoings , on note of that sometimes what's in someone's fridge is not just food but could be a dressed up corpse of a murdered animal who did not want to be there in the first place . So let's leave him on his own . BTW the purpose of me writing this long comment is not to make you feel bad but to help you be the better person. Veganism is a step in that right direction .
@@rationality2001 I think he really means that the fridge is still full of food despite the veganism. There are some vegans out there who have basically nothing in the fridge. Absolutely nothing because they say that’s veganism. Quite weird, right? Cheers
@@rationality2001 I'm sorry, but darling's acting like the vegan teacher with this comment they wrote lol (or they didn't mean it, idk). Ur not helping spread veganism, ur hurting it. The person who wrote the orginal comment wrote it as sarcasm, meaning that they don't judge people for what they have in their fridge, because having ANYTHING in it is better than nothing LOL! Ur welcome for taking time to spell it out for you.
My crunchy fried chicken cheat is potato chips. Grind them up in the food processor and mix them with the dry ingredients. They will stay crunchy no matter what. I have to find a better place to get oyster mushrooms. The one place I can find them are almost always expired.
I tried this recipe and OMG it's so flavorful, the mushrooms tasted really good, and i didn't use soju because i don't like alcohol but i substituted with mirin and orange juice and it's amazing. I just ate them plain😂 but the next time i will try with the sauce
This looks amazing! I can’t wait to make this. My brother hates chicken because he doesn’t like the aftertaste of chicken. I bet you he’ll love this. 😄 And Soju for the batter?! 😳 Wow! I would have never thought of that! 👀 Thank you so much for this recipe! 🙏🏻
I’m definitely going to try the double fry method. That’s what I’ve been missing. I don’t have oyster mushrooms at the moment but I bet this would be awesome with frozen and thawed tofu too.
I thought for sure it was seitan at the beginning when you showed the pull but maitake is SUCH a brilliant maneuver here! Does it come out a little juicy? I GOTTA try this one! So excited! Thank!
Looks so yummy! I actually made some fried chicken like this, but no wet batter! It turned out good, but I will definitely try the wet batter next time! Made cuz my son was visiting and he and I enjoy vegan food…the boyfriend loved it too!
All my life I've tried different techniques for making good fried "chicken" and every time has been a huge fail. So I'm delighted to report that I followed this recipe and the texture was PERFECT. Crispy, crunchy. However, it had a weird note to me and I think it was probably the soju and that's my bad. I think soju is disgusting so why did I batter my food in it?? It left just a slight sour note. Still yummy but not quite a 10. But I'm definitely using this technique again but next time I'll use soda water and see how that goes. Thanks so much for helping me finally make great fried food!!
I think all three would be great. It's amazing that it looks so much like meat fibers. I also like your kitchen. Looks like what a real persons kitchen looks like. Not like a studio kitchen.
Okay I’m watching u guys eat it and I realized … I don’t have to worry about crunching on bones or cartilage when I smash vegan fried chicken in my mouth!! Lmao
Why do vegans seem to feel a need to lie about what they are cooking? If it is mushrooms just say mushrooms. This might be a wonderful recipe, but I will never know because I can't stand the click-bait hypocrisy.
I understand your frustration. But as a professional recipe developer, content creator, and food blogger, I have to wrestle with SEO, visibility, algorithms. If I called this "Korean fried oyster mushrooms," the chance that you or anyone else actually seeing it goes down significantly. That's not my fault--I can't really do anything about that. Also, many vegans still think of this as "vegan chicken," an alternative that is better for them than synthetic meat products. I've also consulted with non-vegan chefs who view oyster mushrooms as "vegan chicken." I don't think hypocrisy at all. Click-bait, arguable. But, I think there is a fair enough argument in favor of it being merely descriptive.
@@TheKoreanVegan Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I can agree that the algorithms TH-cam uses are trash. I will also admit to being a little miffed at other things in the moment and taking out that aggression in my comment. My apologies. I will also largely agree that many synthetic meat products are unhealthy garbage, especially for those intolerant of gluten. Good wishes on you future endeavors.
Placebo effect. Learn that this was spread as part of a racial fear mongering propaganda way back when and enjoy. There has never been one person that was medically proven to have a headache after consuming msg.

I’m going to try this. I’m not vegan, but I love adding non-meat options into my life. This looks delicious.
Same 😊
Same!
I absolutely love that you have a real kitchen. There's stuff in your kitchen but it's not dirty. I know that's random but it feels authentic

Thank you!! I never thought of it that way-I’ll cook out of here for my videos more often!
That crunch 😱
I tdefinitely appreciate an expert at refrigerator Tetris.
hahaha-not sure that's what my husband would call it, but appreciate it!!
OMG! I cant wait to try this...drooling as i write! thank you thank you thank you!🤤🤤🤤
The process is long but I am going to try this as soon as I can get the ingredients. I am hooked!
it definitely takes a little bit of work, but after making it a lot, it becomes pretty easy!!

@rationality2001 nothing you said has anything to do with my comment. The way you interpret things is very skewed, and you need help.
@@The_Real_Black_Jesus That person is completely insane. They need medication, not fried mushrooms.

I drop everything as soon as I hear that Bell.. yummy thank you so much NYC One ❤ to you my G
See, I knew I was supposed to follow you. And you love my favorite beer.🎉🎉🎉
You should try “chicken of the forest”!! It’s a type of mushroom with a very similar texture to chicken and is VERY GOOD
Yum!❤
Yum! I'm going to make this in my air fryer this weekend. 😋

It's definitely a very used kitchen!!! :)
I want to mix soy-ginger glaze 1 + gochujang glaze 2 to make supreme sauce glaze 3
💚💚💚
Where do you get soju from?
even though i'm not vegan i'm gonna have to try this cause i HATE the feeling of touching raw chicken with my hands
Okay I’m watching u guys eat it and I realized … I don’t have to worry about crunching on bones or cartilage when I smash vegan fried chicken in my mouth!! Lmao
Is there anything I can use instead of soju to make it alcohol-free?
I use Sprite
What can I replace soju with? I can’t tolerate alkohol.
hi! check out the full written recipe but mirin is a good replacement!
Actually, the alcohol will burn away and you'll not notice it at all. I've tried it with other food, and there was no alcohol taste/smell in it
