  • We're out here fishing with Gino jigging for walleye in the Upper Niagara River in the late fall. I'm running the 3/4oz gold Stingnose - because we have a dark day and some darker water, gold tends to reflect a little better.

    Hey and thanks for the video,
    now is the jig tied directly to the line or is it connected with a snap swivel/quick change connector? And I may have missed it, but is the line monofilament?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a snap (not a snap/swivel - just a snap) and i was also using a fluoro leader :)

    Hi Ivo, good morning. I just tried deep sea fishing for my first time. It's interesting! Any good choice for ocean fishing gear? Target fish sea bass, flounder, and maybe tuna in the future. Thanks.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ..tuna is a while new arena but for Sea Bass and Flounder, a 7 or a 7 1/2 foot, medium to medium/heavy rod will do just fine :)

    Ivo, I have used the 3/4 and 1/2 ounce sting noses and the jigging spoon seems to flip over and tangle with the line when jigged aggressively. What am I doing wrong?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      try a different jigging approach (i.e less aggressive) or for the aggressive jigging approach, try casting out and jigging back, or tip your jig, or try a different rod and one last resort, change to a single hook - good luck out there :)

      @@stevenmartinelli1834or try using a stiffer line; I.e. if you’re running thin braid try tying on a short leader of 8-14 lb monofilament or fluorocarbon. Or run one of those by themselves on a dedicated jigging rap/spoon rod.
      Only my opinion, correct me anyone if I am wrong, as I am still learning!

    I have always wondered, what is the regulation/law for fishing Niagara river?
    Is it like you can't cross middle of the river and such? Is someone always monitoring the river for boaters with wrong ideas and such?

      Nobody knows you are from Canada or US. However cops sometimes request you to show a license. If you have only one license, you have to stick to your country side. But if you have both license, you are good to go.

      Here in Ohio and most other states. You have to have bout numbers, on both sides of the bow. Usually, the sequence starts with the State abbreviations, followed by numbers. I’m unaware of Canada’s regulations. So, with that said.. that should give you a pretty good assumption, to who is who.

      if you venture across the boundary line in the river, as long as you do not touch land, you are o.k. :)
