    Dear Shrinkship! Maybe I can help get into third position at neck. Feel fleshy part of left palm. Place on upper rt. Bout.knock in between d and a strings with fingers.then slide tose fingers between d and a string. Lastly rock second and third on top of a string. Use your finger tips and roll from left inner corner of 3rd finger. Repeat for 1st finger and 4th finger. Hope this helps.

    Hi Beth, Thank you for your tips. Especially, thinking about the note that is coming. I found out that this tip improve my guitare and signings skill. You are very good in your explanation. Also I liked your analogy of the bouncing ball when i tried it.

    Re: double stops. A while back I discovered Josephine Trott's "Melodious Double Stops" and absolutely adore them.

    Thanks for the PT session 😊. I noticed you have different strings than on the last video. Before you said you had Larsen Virtuosos. I'm curious what to are trying now and how they compare. Since you've tried so many different strings, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them, and if you have a favorite for your violin. I'm currently using Larsen Virtuosos, but would prefer a bit more of a compact sound on the D string, rather than broad.
    Does your music reading course have a lot of rhythm counting? I can read notes and basic rhythms, but when there are complicated rhythms, I really can't count it.

      I'm using the Thomastik Pi strings now. I have to say they are amazing. And yes, I do have lots of rhythm counting on my course :), including both simple and compound meters.

      @@violinlab Thanks for the reply. I thought your violin sounded great with the Larsen Virtuosos. Good to know you like the PI strings ☺️. I bought a set on the recent string sale, but haven't put them on yet ☺️.
      I looked at the outline of the music reading course but couldn't tell if it had the complicated rhythms. Good to know it does. Thanks ☺️

    O k here goes! What do you recommend to clean your bow hairs and how often should you do it?

    • @violinlab
      @violinlab  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you shouldn't need to clean bow hair if it's kept clean, i.e. never touch the hair, If so, then a dab of dishwashing liquid will take care of oily spots. Be sure and wrap plastic wrap around the stick when washing the hair!

    Well, I am at the end of Suzuki book 6, and I am having serious trouble learning vibrato. I am an older adult and getting private lessons from a music school. This is frustrating. I have watched videos over and over, and it looks so easy, but I just cannot do it!

      Try my vibrato course! www.soundslice.com/store/the-violin-vibrato-trainer/
      It has the practicing of vibrato built into the course.

    Dear Shrink sip. It will come. We did vibrato in fourth grade in 1970 approx. I NEVER DID GET THE HANG OF IT. SO DONT FRET!. I RECOMMEND.A SHOULDER WREST SO YOUR LEFT HAND DOESNT HAVE TO SUPPORT YOUR VIOLIN ALL THE TIME. WHEN YOU GET YOUR SHOULDER WREST ON YOUR VIOLIN TAKE YOUR RING FINGER OF LEFT HAND AND PLACE IT GENTLY ON THE A STRING AT THE NECK OF THE VIOLIN. USE THE FIRST JOINT OF THE RING FINGER AND ROLL THE FINGER TIP TWORDS SCROLL. THEN ROLL IT TWORDSTHE BRIDGE. THEN ROLL IT BACK AGAIN. AS YOU ROLL TRY BENDING AT THE FIRST JOINT OF YOUR RING FINGER. THEN TAKE A REST. YOUVE DONE ENOUGH FOR ONE DAY CONGRATULATE YOURSELF. GET SOME TOILET TISSUE. TAKE ONE SQUARE OF TISSUE AND BALL IT UP. PLACE THIS BALL IN EVEY FIRST JOINT OF FINGERS OF LEFT HAND. GENTLY ROLL THE BALL OF TISSUE INSDE THE KNUCKLE WITH EACH FINGER. REPEAT ONLY A COUPLE OF TIMES. THATS IT FOR THE DAY. TOMORROW REPEAT THE EXERCISES IVE JUST RELAYED TO YOU. IF YOU KEEP PRACTICING FOR NO MORE THAN 15 MINUTES PER DAY, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO VIBRATO IN NINE TO TEN MONTHS. IT.MAY TAKE A YEAR. YOU MAY EVEN GET THE HANG OF IT IN A MONTH OR TWO. IT VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON. THE NOISE SHOULD SOUND SIMILAR TO AN AMBULANCE SIREN. KEEP THE STRINGS AT A440. THENLOOK AT OTHER VIOLINISTS AND HOW THEY DO FINGER VIBRATO. THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF VIBRATO. THERE IS EVEN BOW VIBRATO. LOOK THEM UP ON THE INTERNET AND BECOME A COPY CAT AND KEEP YOUR JOINTS FLEXIBLE. PUT A DOT ON YOUR FINGERBOARD AT THE A STRING AND NECK JOINT AND ROLL YOUR FINGERTIP OVER THE DOT THEN ROLLOFF THE DOT. THEN ROLL ON THE DOT. PRETTY SOON YOU WILL HAVE VIBRATO SOUND. USE METRONOME AND DO SETS OF 4 6 8 BEATS PER TOCK INTERVAL. LISTEN FOR THAT SIREN SOUND AND YOUL BE ON YOUR WAY TO MASTERING VIBRATO. IT TAKES TIME SO BE PATIENT. IT MIGHT NOT COME AT FIRST BUT EVENTUALLY IT WILL. BUT YOU MUSNT RUSH IT. JUST DO FIVE MINUTES A DAY OR NO MORE THAN FIFTEEN MIN. PER DAY. ASK OTHERS TO SHOW YOU TOO. IF YOUVE EVER HAD YOUR FINGERPRINTS TAKEN THAT BASICALLY IS VIBRATO! THATS FINGER VIBRATO THERE ARE ALSO OTHERS. HAPPY SIRENING AND DONT WORRY ABOUT HOW GOOD OR BAD IT SOUNDS.ALSO GET A ULTRA PRACTICE MUTE THEN YOU CAN PRACTICE ALMOST ANY HOUR. HAVE FUN!
