Apparently the Dutch minister, evardus bogardus, as an employee of the Dutch West Indies Co., he was in Suriname at his role for this company, to advocate for the care of the W.I.C. owned Black African slaves. And from Suriname, Bogardus went to New Amsterdam, in the same role for the W.I.C., as apparently most of the city of New Amsterdam was built by Black African slaves of the W.I.C., while most in New Amsterdam who were free people; they kept at generating income going to Holland, especially during the 30 years war. To many Black descendants who built the earlieast parts of what is now New York City, Bogardus is held in regard as the start of progress that decades later, led to they gained freedom. Under Gov. Stuysant, the Wall Street wall of stone, 12 feet high, it went up, likely also done by these slaves.
