Honestly, the best dnd character sheet app is legit just called fifth edition character sheet (the icon is a green d20 on a black background). It’s completely free if you’re making lvl characters, and the only things that cost money are the level up and automatic rest feature. And they cost a whopping, get this, $3. Honestly, it’s only downside is that it’s a little rough at doing any sort of homebrew race/class/subclass, but since the notes are completely editable, it’s not even that bad
Chuckles the space clown as a 90's 2 am infomercial host will always make a dnd player laugh hard...we need more suave speaking torbek quoting Ernest movies 🤣
First time D&D Beyond betrayed me was with my first Bard, a blue dragonborn named Korg. He was up against the rest of the party (we were all level 15 and he just pulled the alignment switch card from tDoMT) I had to switch my lawful good bard to chaotic evil and his goddamn stats reset to level one. The stress of having become the main villain plus D&D Beyond jank made me yeet my phone through the air at high velocity, breaking my phone case. Funnily enough, that seemed to fix things and I've never had a problem since :3
I literally have an editable pdf of a character sheet on my phone, as well as a pdf of a spell sheet and inventory sheet. It probably works as good as or better than DnD beyond.
✋ I feel seen. I'm also a Derek that has been left hanging by DND Beyond being goofy. 😅 Constantly deciding at random what it wants to upload when I level up and not letting people in my group access books I've paid for and having the DM membership. Thanks DND Beyond.
As a dnd beyond enjoyer (free, a dude aint got cash to spare for extra character slots), its a pain in the ass and I love it because it does math for me. And that's the only thing it does 💀
I just ran my first session and it starts with a dragon attack. One of my players asks if they can talk to the dragon because he has draconic. Then the other players started looking at they're languages and all of the party members speak draconic! 😂
I still write out everything. From custom writing my character sheets in a style I like, to writing down the spells without the fluff. I don’t have time to put up with a system that only half functions, when I’m only half functional myself
Every reason why I try to keep pencil and paper as opposed to digital. I do let my players use D&D Beyond if they prefer. But I ask that they keep a physical character sheet just in case. Lol
I'm working a very small and delicate art project while watching this and just did the nose breath laugh thing and all my peices went flying. Curse your amazing comedy.
100% true though. There absolutely are MUCH better apps and digital character sheets that make WAY more logical sense than anything WotC ever fucking designed 😂
