Huay Kaew water Fall is a wonderful place to look at butterflies, the place is close to Chiang Mai center, only a half hour drive, waterfall located a few 100 meters north of Chiang Mai zoo

There are other espekter there is much more threatening, unfortunately, the protection of nature is not as good as it should be. I have traveled extensively in Africa and Indonesia that it is very bad Custom logging is a major problem there. The tradition of eating insects in Thailand is very old and has no great influence on the natural fauna, I think

The people, such as the ones featured at the end of this video and their eating habits are going to be the downfall of those beautiful butterflies.

At 3:37 the butterfly is "Puddling". A strange behavior seen here in Kerrville Texas as well as numerous butterfly sites on TH-cam.
Apparently this is not a thirst quencher because they drink prodigious amounts and squirt it out their rear as fast as they drink it.
The standard explanation goes like this:
They appear to be after certain minerals or nutrients. Or who knows what else. Males do this much more than females, ostensibly to make their sperm more viable and even pass the nutrients on to the female in that "package".
My opinion ... In Texas, males drink prodigious volumes of beer, often squirting it out about as fast as they drink it.
This does not make their sperm more viable. It just spreads it around more.
Conclusion: Anybody can make up explanations. I personally would bet that there is a lot more going on here than mineral intake.
I'm going to bet on an intoxicant, an aphrodisiac, or hallucinogenic agent ... with salt on it ... like a margarita.
