- This video was recorded in connection with a Danish entomological expedition to northern Thailand in August and September 2011.
Papilionidae is a large family of butterflies with over 700 species worldwide. Butterflies of this family often have tails and wonderful colors. This video is the first of a series of films, that show Thailand's butterflies in their natural habitat..
Very nice butterflies! Thank you!
I'm so jealous of you being able to see these butterflies. We have some nice ones in the UK, but these are on another level.
Awesome 🦋🦋🦋👍💖
やっぱりキシタアゲハが最高だなー。それにしてもこんなところで毎日ちょうちょ見ながら暮らしてみたいもんだなー。。。

Two questions: why butterflies shake their wings? In order to reach the right temperature to fly? And why they spray a kind of liquid substance?
Hi Simone
Question 1 Some butterflies need to ventilate to control their body temperature. Sometimes they shake their wings to spread pheromones (sexual fragrances) Some think it's to confuse birds and lizards, I do not think so :-)
Question 2 Butterflies absorb water from the ground and in that water there are important minirals and nutrients that the butterfly absorbs in their bodies and then sprains the water out of the urinary tract. Sometimes the butterfly spills the water back and sucks it through the system again.
Hope you can use the information
