It’s funny back then I assumed this was normal. Figured you just had to work your way up every time. Now it seems so silly and annoying to be punished every race
the guy that waved you through on the last lap took third! he was relying on the R4M_Shadow effect, where other drivers mysteriously kill themselves and every other driver.
I’m watching this for the 2nd time and I just realized you came last to first without doing 1 single overtake. 😹😹 You were just given the positions. Some of then even yielded the positions to you willingly. But that last pack was just hilarious to watch.
The guy in turquoise car barely kept that one wheel on the track. Had he gone just a bit more wide, it'd have been a clear penalty. Instead, the knock-off wifi password only got a SR down for that
One thing I've learned from motorsports games, brake at a certain point, then get back on the gas as soon as possible. Also, you should take a certain line through the corners as well. As someone who's gotten faster times with this strategy, it's helped me.
Been on a binge of your GT Sport videos and I didn't realize this one came out today! Thank you Pig (and JSR Leecampbell) Also top 10 R4M of the year at 8:10, you rolled around in the mud like a Pig before sending that guy in the R4M_Shadow_GT realm
I often find myself bored with hobbies (sim racing, video games, music, etc.) But anytime I do I binge a few hours of Super GT and feel encouraged by your enthusiasm and skill. Thanks for the simple but inspiring content
Awesome video, fantastic commentary too. Something that can be quite rare in gaming videos. I haven't played this franchise since GT6 came out, and that was fairly short lived, especially the online component. This was mainly due to the bad sportsmanship displayed by many of the online racers. It's heartening so see the penalty system working quite well in this iteration. You've made me seriously consider getting back into racing again. My PS4 has been used exclusively for Netflix/Stan/Amazon streaming for over 2 years now, I wonder if it remembers how to run games anymore.......
Mate I wanted to say thanks for answering my question last night about fuel saving on the Ring. You helped me go from finishing 6th-8th to finishing consecutively 1st and 2nd.
As an American fan, with likely very different touchstones for racing history and culture, you remind me of Al Unser, Sr., the second four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500, and multiple national champion as well. When he had the car to dominate, he did, and those races were almost boring because of it, but when he didn't dominate, he was constantly lurking, ready to capitalize on any mistakes by anyone else. Actually, that also sums up Scott Dixon, in modern American open-wheel/formula racing.
11:41 “My recommendation for him is to press the brake pedal. It’s actually quite useful, pretty much mandatory in most races” Can’t stop laughing, can I?
Cool heads prevail. Right now at the 'Ring I haven't really had any qualifying time, only one lap so far until the weekend. So I'm starting near the back, I just focus on running smooth and short shifting using as much slipstream as possible and charge hard for the second lap. It's a lot of fun, especially running down the drivers coming out of the pits. I finish the lap with under .1 laps of fuel. So far only up to ninth. The GTR is so bouncy, maybe switch to nose cam or hood cam.
From what l understood in my experience in racing in general, is that starting last in a online race with collision is easily the best scenario while first is the worst unless you have a powerful car to outrun people but even then, people will slam you. In single player, first is the best scenario evidently
To be good at these kinds of games you really have to have a gift for it. If you don't have the natural talent and ability no amount of practice or work will get you to that level. Clearly you have it.
16th to 1st!! 🤣 I knew they were going to take each other out @ 130R. Good work Super GT! I'll maybe see you in those lower rated lobbies one time... 👍
You're a very smooth driver. What wheel do you use? Also, how do you get a 5 sec penalty when you've gone for the inside line and the opponent cuts you off and ends up being forced wide, but corner dive bombers only get 1 sec?
17:13 In my personal opinion is not the fault of the guy on the inside, as they were side by side, but the one on the outside that did not give him enough space (then yeah, last lap in these games means armageddon)
The penalty system along with the Safety system was faulty in this race as I unfortunately bumped my way up from 8th to 1st and even ran very wide corner before the chicane but got clean race
I start last or close to it most of the time. I'm in a weird position of having a slower qualifying or fastest lap, but seemingly having a lot more consistency during an actual race. Basically I just race cool and even, and capitalize on the mayhem and mistakes of others, especially early in the race. I often feel like I'm racing against people a lot faster than me, but I can still hold my own over several laps and usually come out ahead just because I'm not as aggressive.
Gotta love a Clio. I had a Clio Williams once 2.0L 16v, around 150 bhp One of the most fun cars i ever owned but lots of issues with it. The suspension was amazing though.
If you're a good driver stating in last is a quick way to increase your driver rating. I was able to get up to a B rating by routinely moving up 5- 7 positions power race.. it's allso more fun and challenging to try to win from behind.
I start every race in last. Also, I finish them in last. It stops being hilarious after a while.

Starting in last
*Basically every 90’s racing game trick to try and make a racing game feel harder than it actually is*
Well, Gran Turismo campaign is so easy even in pro and endurance championships they still put you last or far at the bottom of the grid lol
90s, that sheet still happens with arcade games, LOL.
It still is like that
It’s funny back then I assumed this was normal. Figured you just had to work your way up every time. Now it seems so silly and annoying to be punished every race
Yeah this gimmick is still in any racing game without qualifying.
the guy that waved you through on the last lap took third! he was relying on the R4M_Shadow effect, where other drivers mysteriously kill themselves and every other driver.
What an inspired decision. He was carried forward in the shadow of Shadow.
*mysteriously get sent to the shadow realm

I think I was looking behind me and realised who was there and just forgot all about braking. Great video as always :D

“Get In in in In in in In in there Lewis” cracked me up so much, genius.
13:17 love how thats not enough for a penalty lul
From my painful personal experience, a driver with higher SR can sometimes get away with punting a lower rated driver in this game.
Lmfao I was like: wtf why is he not getting a penalty at all?! Hahaha
The guy in turquoise car barely kept that one wheel on the track. Had he gone just a bit more wide, it'd have been a clear penalty. Instead, the knock-off wifi password only got a SR down for that
meanwhile the other dude gets a penalty at the end of the race for another driver turning into him. . .
One thing I've learned from motorsports games, brake at a certain point, then get back on the gas as soon as possible. Also, you should take a certain line through the corners as well. As someone who's gotten faster times with this strategy, it's helped me.
Learn multiple lines-run, run, run the track over and over again until you know what angle any given line will yield.
