Ren is an incredible talent. At 69 years old I didn't expect to see see any new, unique musical innovation but Ren is the gift that keeps giving. I think the word genius is generally overused, but in Ren's case it's a very fair description. I love watching innovative independent artists.... long may he keep surprising his now massive fan base!

This song is a masterpiece. There's really no other way to put it. It's brilliant performance art from beginning to end. No part of it is accidental. Even in the beginning when he's kinda over plucking the strings and creating a rattle sound...It's intentionally ham-fisted to portray an insecure broken young man that is trying to find the confidence to write his song. And then the ensuing battle with his cynical side. It's just perfect.

Ive been here for more than a year now and have accepted that he is a beautiful part of my life. As a former psychiatric social worker, i have dealt with a lot of mental illness. I had never encountered someone who has overcome, confronted, and alchemized his suffering in such a raw, authentic and and tranparent way. From his own desperate story, he has chosen to be the voice of the vouceless, suffering from chronic mental and physical illness. He has a very unique gift of expressing his emotions and thoughr in ways that resonate with his audience. I find his voice incredibly grounding.
Everyone has given great suggestions. I would add Crutch live with Bibi. It is cinematic and musical gem and it was done in 2015 when Ren was at his lowest. He directs and conceives his own videos, so that is doubly impressive.

Ren is simply an amazing person. I highly suggest you listen to a couple of his interviews. First on the list would be The Zach Sang Show. Others are with Justin Hawkins, Knox Hill & Rosalie Elliott. Also watch his "Defining Success" post after he achieved the #1 album in the UK.

I listen to Ren every single day. A day without Ren is a wasted day. Ren contracted Lyme disease after a tick bite. He was misdiagnosed which led to more suffering. Without being able to tour or promote his music, except for online, he managed to get a number one for his album, "Sick Boi" in the UK. You will be consistently amazed and delighte4d with the diversity of skills he brings to our eyes and ears.

  • @ThaStranger11

He talks about not caring to make commercial music or stuff that can get on the radio and he still managed to break #1 artist in the UK last year. Proof you don't need anyone but yourself really to be a force. Also a testament to Ren's talent and experience. He's a great example of how everyone, musician or not, should tackle life. Legend.

Hey there. Ren has Lyme's disease. Unfortunately, he was misdiagnosed for 6 years and placed on medications that tore his mind and body apart by treating mental and physical diseases he did not have while the Lyme's disease worsened. There are early videos where he vlogs about not thinking he was going to live and they are heartbreaking. A kind doctor gave him stem cell treatment which improved his condition quite a bit. He has been in Canada for the last year or so receiving treatment. He can do so many things and is so talented. He plays multiple instruments, can sing, can rap, and produces his own beats. Like Sleep Token, it's a journey that is well worth it and rewarding. I would suggest The tales of Jenny and Screech (three songs in one video), Chalk Outlines (live), and Sick Boi just to get started and to see some of the diversity.

Nice reaction ladies. Have not seen you do any reactions to Ren . Autoimmunity effects people differently. It hit Ren in the worst way. And was contracted from a tick bite. And went misdiagnosed for 8 years, The whole time hundreds of Doctors telling him nothing was wrong with him. Then Psychologist with text book diagnoses. They told him it was his mind making him sick, hurt, spasms, digestive issues, bones hurting and constant fatigue. Leaving him bed ridden. And being treated for psychological disorders.. Heavy medication and the side affects were damaging his body badly..

Patience is a song Ren did in 2011 when he was going into some of the worst of his physical and mental struggle. It was used in the documentary Unrest which is about ME. The documentary is good but for Patience the live video (Ayesha Jones) is more compelling. He is younger and frailer but displays so much strength of character.

    It’s his internal dialogue.
I suspect that it is louder or more instrusive if you are creative in some way, and I think it’s one reason why people drink to excess or take drugs - to drown it out and get some peace and quiet for a short while. It is not the same for everyone, of course.

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction.
    jAN 01, 2023
    rEN~
Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed.
I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head.
When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus.
These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between.
My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished.
My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world.
The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war.
For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person.
I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought.
Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours.
I can't wait for you all to hear it.

Not only was this done in one take and is a live performance which is incredible by itself but there's the fact that it seems to have actually been able to transcend "genre" and has found love from people of all kinds of musical backgrounds. Even with those merits I still think my favorite and most impressive thing about this song is it could inspire a decades worth of philosophical debate and tools for personal introspection that are eternal. This man is by far the most talented artist I'm aware of, that being said the level of depth to his music will get you listening on repeat as you have personal philosophical exploration triggered by his words but I know I can only do so much of that so often so I have to take breaks from it. I recently started getting the itch again and I saw he has released multiple songs since I started that break so it might just be time for me to dive in and if I get hooked I'll definitely be coming back to try and to relive that first time experience by proxy, and in order to do so I will be subscribing and will check out your other videos while I patiently wait for that cosmic face slap Ren brings in each of his songs 😆

The Ren rabbit hole is where you are now so go with it. Let the crowd lead you down the road of Ren. Hi Ren is his most powerful song as it depicts his inner struggle with his own mental battles for YEARS of being misdiagnosed and having had issues with all the pills he was given that he NEVER NEEDED! He's a lyrical, compositional, and story-telling genius. His guitar and piano playing skills are bar none and I want to say he's SELF TAUGHT! WOW!!!! There are some songs that are happy, some that are deeply concerning, and all in-between, but all comes from his years of agonizing pain by his physical and psychological illnesses. And BTW ladies, he did this all in one take. Different camera angles but ONE TAKE!! The dude is brilliant in so many ways. God bless you two and Ren!!

When he go correctly assessed for Lyme disease he eventually had a stem cell operation that helped him get better. But he is still ill. He travels to Canada to get treatment. As of recent time line his treatment is going well!

You two are precious! Love the ren reactions you've done so far... I'm sure you're getting many requests to react to other songs, but I'd like to give you a few recommendations, please - if I may. Power is a song that is upbeat and shows another side of him... His collab with Chinchilla (who you'll also love) with Chalk Outlines and How to be Me are both epic! And if you just want a party vibe, What you Want is so fun - a nod to the Beasty Boys. Lads out being lads.

Pretty much all I watch are reactors and so I've seen them all. It's so refreshing to have some girls down to earth who don't appear to be faking their reactions for views so I would predict your channel doing very well if you keep that in check. As you seem like a nice people, I'm going to give you a few very specific tracks/singles on TH-cam that are well known to blow your channel up and make you a lot of money. I've not yet worked my way through all your videos yet (which I'm just about to do) so apologies if you have already done some of them.
So, from a high artistic value perspective, anything else from Ren but definitely glad you started with the best, 'Hi Ren.'
Now going up level but this time, from a high music & video production value, anything from Falling In Reverse from 'Drugs' onwards is in a brand new incomparable tier of its own and in particular, the best ones from a video production prospective are 'Ronald' and 'Watch The World Burn' as those video alone tipped them over into greatness. Also, from an arrangement perspective, be sure to then do their beautiful 'The Drug In Me Is You Reimagined,' then 'I'm Not a Vampire Revamped' and then 'Last Resort Reimagined,' then any/all the other few from 'Drugs' onwards, especially 'Popular Monster' and 'Zombified.' (Like Ren, the frontman Ronnie even loves reactors and so also reacts to them reacting to him, which can be fun from that inception angle. I think he'd really like you so maybe someone will suggest you to him at some point.)
Now up a level again but this time from a high singing skills value, a super special one would be 'Creep - Vintage Postmodern Jukebox Radiohead Cover ft. Haley Reinhart.' This is my most watched video/listened to single of all time and I have therefore seen it many many many hundreds of times over the nearly decade since it was released.
Finally to the pinnacle and from a highly evolved human perspective, a true one off for likely many hundreds of years, Harry Mack. This might not suit your channel but if you compare the two best people in the world at any other discipline, whether that's tennis or car racing or cooking and everything in between, the two best people are always very close in abilities. This is not true in freestyle rap. The greatest freestyle rapper to ever live, Harry Mack, is many many many magnitudes greater than anyone that has done it before or who is likely to do it again in the next century or few. It is a truly remarkable feat of human evolution and so linguistically advanced, it sends tingles down one's spine. I have run an in depth scoring algorithm since he exploded back on the scene following my discovery of him back from his Venice Beach fame, this time with series called Guerrilla Bars, which I luckily picked up on the first one with before he introduced Omegle Bars too. There are typically 3 or 4 different freestyles per video. You'd be best starting with Omegle Bars 52(first two,) 45(first two,) 42(first one,) 18(last one,) 76(first one,) 86(second one,) 96(second one,) 50(second one,) 93(second one,) ... and then any of the others, especially the more recent ones, and don't forget Guerrilla Bars 25(first & last one.)
Finally, just some general tips for reactors that were the result of a poll amongst several sizable communities, hence, some may not apply to you:
    - Remember to not even have a tiny peak at any videos first before recording the reaction as it is impossible to hide that fact no matter how good a reactor thinks they are.
    - Ensure the video being reacted to occupies at least two thirds of the screen at all times.
    - Push the mouse cursor to the far right of the screen in the middle (or left depending on if your output is mirrored) and permantly leave it there off-screen so the seek bar is never showing.
    - Use the 'K' key on the keyboard to pause/play and the 'J' key to skip back 10 seconds.
    - Before the video begins, press the 'C' key on the keyboard to deactivate the closed captions as no one wants to see words if it's already in their native language.
    - Even if a reactor believes they're good at acting, viewers can always tell when a fake reaction face is pulled so it's better just to pretend you are not making a video.
    - Unless a reactor happens to be an expert in a particular related field such as being an esteemed vocal coach, viewers generally are not interested in much commentary at all as are primarily viewing just to witness if any natural facial expressions, etc. occur. Uncontrollable verbal outbursts of admiration are also accepted. (Never forget, many will unsubscribe if the reactions are ever fake.)
    - Remember, some or all of those suggestions above may not directly apply to you but might be helpful to keep in the back of the mind.
Enjoy the channel blowing up (assuming you don't have a peek at any of the above first.)
All the best and greetings from England.

Ren has very large catalog. Do not do Jenny & Screech. Until you dive into some others. Like sick boi, chalk outlines, 7 sins, power, for Joe. Tales might be his best work. It’s unbelievable. But all of the songs are. I’ve seen few. Get the wrong idea about him. Just because how dark those are. Again all of his stuff is unbelievable. I just think diving into a few before the tales. Will truly make you appreciate the tales more!

Welcome to the Ren-Rabbithole. I don't want to spoiler any song of him, but about 90% of his songs are mindblowing one way or the other. In one song it's the vid itself, in one it's his storytelling, in another one it's his voice. Mostly it's all together. Listen to some songs, watch some videos and u will see what i mean. Oh and btw. he does all by his own. Only the vids are recorded by a close friend of him. His own beats, lyrics, even the ideas for the vids are mostly from himself. And don't try to put him in a genere. U will fail. :P Tbh, when I think of Ren, i think the world isn't fair. How could this guy have so much talent and others... Well ok, he had a hard life, but still... This is to much talent compressed in one person. :D

I know I already blow up your comments enough and apologies in advance if I comment on quite a bit of these cause this is new to me and like I said in a way I feel like I’m experiencing it with you ladies. I saw this everywhere when it blew up and it was peoples titles for reactions and articles I read that made me not wanna listen to it at the time or his other music cause I just had a gut feeling that I wasn’t ready to listen to it. This was definitely intense and I can’t lie, cuts pretty deep. But I’m also so glad I finally listened to it. It’s so good to find such relatable music because it is helpful. But man this was incredible and powerful and I took a few minutes to process all of this but at the moment the only thought I have still is just… holy shit.
