as someone who has played halo as it came out I didn’t think it would feel so weird watching someone play halo who’s never played it before. Like there’s so many little tricks and habits that I’m used to doing and seeing others do to see someone play without them feels so strange but entertaining
I buyed the master chef collect on steam like 9-12 months ago played it and didnt know you could button change the graphics (I found it out when i finished the ship part😭)
It doesn't please me to see others play Anniversary edition though... As a Halo CE fan, it shivers my timbers especially once the atmosphere starts _getting good._
One of the problems with the anniversary graphics is that they are made with recycled assets from halo 3 and halo reach so they didn't really make assets to match the original art style. They did for halo 2 anniversary which is why that game keeps mostly faithfully to halo 2's original art style. Btw nice video/vod
It's hard to evaluate. While it's true that the new textures don't match the old aesthetic, it makes sense for the Halos and The Ark to share aesthetic designs. By that token, using H3 assets makes a lot of sense, unless we want to believe that there was no aesthetic consistency between installations, which of course could be possible. While it's not exactly faithful, the aesthetics for textures specifically in CE are definitely due to technical limitations rather than wanting that to be the look. Bungie seems consistent when it comes to giving forerunners a bunch of lights and stuff inside their walls, like there's data being transmitted, and to convey a technology we don't understand. While I don't know if these exact aesthetics convey it correctly, the old graphics certainly didn't offer that same sense of future tech, it felt archaic, while the forerunners were meant to be technologically advanced even in our past, Star Wars styel.
@@hteety The og pc port was a 3rd party paste over that broke a few textures and things. So the mcc ce "old" graphics are a bad copy of a bad copy. Couple that with using Halo 3 textures for the updated graphics, which are different sizes for the characters and stuff, resulting in bad hit-boxes, as well as failing to understand set peice aesthetics, (*cough 343 guilty spark's atmosphere *cough) don't do justice to the feel of the og base game. There's a few youtube videos on the topic that really explain it all well. Of course being 2001 graphics had limitations, but It genuinely felt like ancient advanced tech when you were discovering the secrets of halo. If they were as invested in a faithful recreation of CE as they were Halo 2, the game would be great even with Halo 3 textures, because it would be adjusted to the environment of the game instead of feeling like tech wallpaper on an old building.
I love when people discover Halo for the first time. Ive been playing for close to 20 years now and its always a great time to go back through them on the MCC.
Halo! 🎉🎉🎉 The reason you had to fix the keybinds for all the individual games is cause you clicked "set for all games", which switched keybinds in the other games and made you rebind them. If you only modified the keybinds in Halo: CE then you wouldn't have had to rebind the other games keybinds.
I know it's in the past, but it would save a lot of frustration if she just read the error message, saying which games there were missing binds for. I agree generally that it doesn't make sense that you have to set keybinds for games you're not playing, but also, if that's how it is, just doing it would be better than being confused when the error message is right there. Either way, glad to see that you've done a full play through of the MCC collection! These games made up most of my middle school and high school gaming, and it's always great to see people experience it for the first time. Hopefully the MCC specific frustrations didn't take away too much from the experience.
