I was in Washington state in 2015. Baker Mountain and I got boots there. They are very rare Icelandic 1 degree boots. Came with ahead of the time boot liner and came fitted with booster straps. I am embarrassed to say I still rock ‘em. But will be upgrading next year. I never thought much about what the booster straps were until I used a friends boot with velcrow and I have to say the booster straps are awsome I was lucky all along having them and not knowing what they added until I tried a boot without them.

For the dad with 90 flex boots- Nick’s Bootfitting near Mount Snow is great.

Just put on my booster straps. they help a lot. Even if you don't carve they are still nice to really tighten down your boots

RE: Booster straps. As far as I know Booster's patent has lapsed and other companies are now able to make effectively the same thing. Having both, Tecnica's power strap to me looks exactly like the OG booster strap with the added bonus of having the hook to disconnect the strap.

Going to a Bootfitter was probably the single biggest “purchase” that improved my skiing experience. I went to Nick’s Bootfitting near Mt. Snow 2.5 seasons ago because the boots I had (Tecnica Mach 1 LV) were killing my feet and I wanted something I could tour in. Got set up with a pair of Cochise boots 1 mondo size down but with a mid/ normal last. Got some insoles, had a little punch work done, comfort and performance dramatically improved. The lining is starting to pack out, I’ll probably get some Zipfits and use them another few years. Go to a fitter in the offseason, see if they have something on sale, let them work, enjoy your ski life more.

Hi Elliot. Been watching your videos for the last year or so. I just really admire your honest reviews. I've got similar taste in equipment. Have a pair of vantage 77 TI. ,k2 mindbenders 85. Just recently bought a pair of stockli laser slalom (FiS) just love them. I'm from the northeast. I'm 60 yrs young. 90 lbs. Still skiing full throttle. Have a race background - i mean way back!! Don't think it matters anymore. Also ski instructor at our local ski area during high school and college. My vantage tTi s are getting old. They're around a 144 ,k2 are 149 and most recent this year are my stocklis. They are also under 150. And heavy. But i absolutely love them. No regrets at all. Worth every penny. I had a similar reaction to your most recent review of the new montero AR. It made me a much better skier. I too found myself back in my childhood. Nostalgic. My husband thinks I'm going crazy. He's not a skier. I came from a skiing family. He doesn't get i!! Anyway, I wanted to ask your opinion. I'm looking at buying a ski to replace my k2 ( always hated them) and I'll likely keep the atomic vantage Ti for not so great spring ski day. Been looking at Elan wildcat cti black addition and Ripstick cti black edition. Both start at 150 to 152. Waists have a broader range. Was thinking 82 to 86. I'm living in the northeast and ski on piste most all the time. Skied on elan Skis at a 185 before snowboard r&d changed skiing forever. I'm also considering stockli AW at a 150-152 length. Haven't ruled out the stockli mx. I realize there is a big gap between my narrow waist
    carving skis. And hate k2
I'm 5,2" tall weight about 90 lbs. I prefer challenging on piste skiing. No tricks in the park for this 60 yr old. Still like to carve at high and low speeds. Enjoy doing "slarvy"" short turns. Quick and fast. I've got good technique. That's credit to my father getting me the best instructors as soon as I could walk as a baby. Those foundations are building blocks that are most important. I still run a few basic drill for at least 2 runs before really taking off
Hoping to meet up with my family in February at Stowe and don't want my brother to nit pick at my equipment. Or my technique. It's been awhile since we've skied together. I'd consider myself advanced to expert. Stowe and killington have so many great skiers. I usually ski alone as I am retired. My legs aren't quite as strong as they once were but I'm gaining back some strength.
How wide is too wide for me. How long is too long?? My stockli slalom skis are just so amazing. Terrain won't always be ideal. Oh. I ski a 90-100 flex head rebel race boots. I hate systems bindings and of course those head boots aren't grip walk. I know i threw alot of information at you. Hope it all makes sense. I love your show. Your honesty and love for the sport. Keep it up🎉❤😅 Michele. Jawitz

2 1/2 to three fingers is way too big on shell sizing. The "rule of thumb" is, 2 fingers for comfort, 1 1/2 for performance, and 1 for race.

I replaced my Atomic Hawx strap with the Patriot Footbeds Tru-straps a few years ago. I like them. Anyone else try them?
