So much like the WS-1000 in Owensboro, this was recorded pretty much by complete accident. I came here expecting a Vortex, but found an ATI. I guess...uh...cool? For a long time, I suspected the county had ATIs ever since I heard "ATI-esque" FSK polling tones from the Uniden. But I didn't have much luck finding anything until I somehow stumbled upon some article. The county received a $70,000 grant to add three sirens to Boling Chapel, Easton, and Roseville. They're all tiny towns so small, it literally takes a second to pass through them. Even Google Maps can't find it. I've found Roseville and Easton's sirens, but not Boling Chapel.
The sirens were installed sometime around 2011-2012ish, about the same time I started recording sirens in this area. You may remember the vid I took of a single phase Sentry 3V8 having a seizure or something each cycle. It was recently replaced by a Vortex, not a knockoff. So Hancock County is back to Whelen much like its neighbor, Daviess. Hancock County has at least two systems, but each siren does its own thing. Most Whelens and 2001s do a short blast, but some do the full cycle. The ATIs run the longest.
I'm not going to lie, this wasn't that bad. It's certainly not as potent as a Vortex R4, but it's got kick. In my experience it's somewhere between a Vortex R4/4004 and a Hornet. If this rotated while it was going off, I think it would be a much better siren. And the county seems to take pretty good care of it as well. Hopefully this rare unit will stay in service for a good while. It's not perfect, but hey, it works and that's all that matters.

This has got to be the first recording of an ATI doing whoop.
I've never heard that FSK before. Nice to see an actual signal on this siren being recorded. Rotation cycle is odd but it seems effective. and holy echoes
yeah every siren manufacture has their own version of fsk now a days, for....reasons. ;)

but no one uses it so we don't know what it sounds like
@@seanjuth it sounds like ATI FSK I bet, as ATIs can be activated with 10 digit DTMF too. So, I guess the Whelen FSK radios would be the same as ATI’s

I already knew that, it's just been programmed this way. There's another ATI vid somewhere out there that did this, though briefly.

@@katherinetyler5543 ati sirens aren't the best sirens. The signals they produce aren't capable of carrying long distances. Nothing is wrong with multiple signals, it's just the signals

What is the with the siren communities hate against ATI? Is it the fact that they are much quieter than most sirens?
And its not even true, the ati hpss 32 atleast is louder than even some whelens most people say they break alot, but mine in my city have been running for 17 years!
@@gmmtvfreak The ATIs in my city aren't bad at all. They often malfunction, but when they do work properly their coverage is actually very good.
It’s the tones they use. Just a continuous beep isn’t distinct enough for people to tell it is actually a siren. The rotating ones are quiet and not that great, but the HPSS-32 is the best one for sure, especially if you run the same tone as Allen, TX does on their HPSSs. Really gets your attention and is very loud
I could imagine that thing running on Whelen tones like the other Whelens in the county.
Also, is the HPSS supposed to just sound like it was shown in the video with the rotor facing one way only while sounding, or is this siren just that unique since it doesn't rotate while sounding?
Must've been set-up this way, as the other videos of these sirens show them rotating while sounding.

It could be another series of React encoders. All of them have the same FSK tones
If you compare a ati doing whoop and a whelen doing wail, you will notice that they sound similar
I have a question, and if anyone would know, it's you. How do you get good reverberation on omnidirectional sirens?
The best way to get reverb on an omni is to place a separate mic at a distance facing away from the siren. What I usually do is place one of my mics inside my car. Occasionally I may even place it outside but the trick here is to keep something in between the siren and mic like a wall or a tree.

Atleast it’s better than the 4 speaker set up. This is the only ATI siren that’s actually pretty good! But nothin beats a thunderbolt or a 3t22
Yeah it's not bad at all. I mean, I'd still take a Vortex over this, but it's not really a terrible siren. Not to mention it works just fine and for an electronic it was decently loud.

Some rotational ATIs are programmed like that. It's pretty useful for voice, but for regular tones I'm not sure.
