Bonecrusher doesn't trigger on abilities, only spells. Chandra's controller shouldn't have taken the two damage.

Actually there are a LOT of reasons to play fetchlands in one color decks

It heps fill the graveyard for the card in the deck that synergise with it (the one drop with delirium, grim lavamancer etc) + deck thining, it's not much but still optimisation
