I use those plastic pails for cat litter and drill some inch and half holes on two sides, close the lid and let them at it. Have fun at the conference.
Farmer frank from CT, Beautiful farmland you have, thank you for all you share., still a little snow on ground but finally melting, 30's-40's, I'm all ready and pumped to get into my hives just waiting for the weather 🐝🐝🐝
My girls have been tearing it up. I use plastic coffee tubs so if it's raining I can snap the lid back on them. Cheap and easy. Cool tip's Greg thanks 👍
Cheap is best! I've used the same feeders for years. lol I think the weather this weekend is gonna open the buds on the Maples for us Greg. Super excited for bee season to kick off! Have a safe trip!!
Looking forward seeing to any Hives for Heroe interviews. Our bees in east central Minnesota are still cold/inside. Our major early spring pollen here is almost completely pussywillow. Surrounded by bogs and marshes, the volume is unbelievable. We put up a short video from last year. It seems to be the spring pollen no one else notices/has. Than You.
I have a similar setup, I use the plastic 5-frame Nuc boxes. When they are done feeding, I can wipe it out if need bee. Extra bottom boards and top covers work too.
Been feeding pollen patties and my bees are bringing in a grayish white pollen from some where, we are having roller coaster day time temperatures from 40 to 70 degrees her in northeastern Maryland close to Baltimore, MD
Hey Greg, North Central WV beekeeper going into my 3rd year. I actually put Apivar and pollen patties in my hives about 2 weeks ago. They are starting to consume it. I want to build up 7 strong double deep hives and take 2 split in Late April and 2 more in late may. Then potentially get 1 more split off the original 7 and first ones I split. Will be buying queens the whole way
I've been wanting to start raising bees... but I'm afraid I'll do something...or NOT do something and I'll end up killing them!?? (I'm down by Lucasville OH)
Enjoy the time and the people at the conference…a great cause to support!
Slick idea Greg! Sure looks beautiful there. See you at the conference!
Good stuff Greg. Easy way to do it!
Beekeeper's ingenuity and adaptability to use what they have and save $$ in one shot!! Thanks for sharing Greg!
Love watching bees work feeders. The bees are brooding hard in middle TN!!

It's that time of year again!
I'm sitting here with 3" of snow after 55F and sunny yesterday...Cant wait for spring to commit to being here instead of teasin!
@@NaturesImageFarmGregBurns It definitely has been doing a lot of teasin' this year. That's for sure.
Hay that is a slick idea. Still cold here in Minnesota so bees 🐝 are still clustered.
The beekeepers always come up with a quick solution lol I love it!
I've done similar, The Pro NUC's work good plus another wooden. Very nice Greg. Safe travels buddy. .

Wish it was in the cards for me to join you guys at hives for heroes. Great and easy idea for pollen sub feeding. Thanks for sharing.
I am in Kentucky. I am just getting my first hive this week I am so excited
Awesome! How are your bees doing?
@@NaturesImageFarmGregBurns I already got a second one. They are really working hard. I am loving it
I like this, nice gauge on the patty needs of your bees and the small amount used avoids feeding bees that don't belong to you. 😊
Another great video sir! My southern girls have completely stopped working on the dry pollen substitute but still some interest in the 1-1.
Good idea. Never really used any but I've seen eating dust from chicken food so I feel sure they would hit it.

In Bradford, Ohio the girls have been working pollen sub hard the last few days. 🐝

Nice man! Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Let us know how it goes!
East Texas here.
Firsties:) South Texas.
Can you just give them flour, or chicken laying mash in lieu of real pollen during some seasons, if its not for too long of a period?
I hope it goes good
