I have the (s) version. My mods/add-ins are: 1: puig touring light smoke windscreen with hand guard extentions 2: seat concepts standard seat 3: camel adv neck brace 4: camel adv heat guard 5: KTM OEM 48l top case with passenger back pad and all racks needed 6: kick stand base plate(forget name of brand) Still want a tank bag just haven’t decided what one I want yet, also I wanna get a 2 finger clutch set up as well. I only have the (s) version as I mainly ride street and sometimes loose gravel/dirt roads I don’t ride single track or pits. Anyways I love my bike. Your set up is awesome as well. Great bike. Edit: now in 9/21 Replaced puig screen for rade garage rally screen Seat concepts I use for offroad seat have bought a Corbin 2up touring seat and love it. Went with moko moto mini tank bag, enduristan blizzard luggage, sw motech center stand and lower foot pegs. Touratech steering damper and B&B bash plate
Glad to see your taking care of those wind buffetting issues. I'm curious to see what your long-term analysis of your windscreen is. Great mods in general! 👍
Ian, a tip for your future filming at home. You had the bike in the shade and you were mainly filming towards the sky and concrete driveway. That backlighting overwhelms cameras so we could not see any definition in the bike. I could not clearly see those wind deflectors. Also, in the garage the light from the 2 windows created the same problem. Contrast that to when you were filming towards the garage and background trees, that darker background meant everything was clear. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing, I've just completed my Puig install with a 350-mile run and it's is a massive improvement for me with respect to the wind buffeting. I'm interested in the lights, it would be helpful if you could share the links of the products you purchased.
Camel adv package Headlight brace Hard to tell if it will break but better safe than sorry if you go offroad Heat shield for rear shock Not sure if that work but cheaper than a shock One finger clutch The one finger clutch works very well, you can feel it immediately as compared to stock set up
I just got the S version thanks to your videos and Bret Tkacs. I have my fingers crossed on the reliability. I dont think I ever saw what you did for a GPS mount (my apologies if I missed). Can you please share how your phone holder is set up? My first accessory order is the Puig windscreen. Thansk for the recommendation. This is the worst bike I have been on when it comes to wind buffeting. Hopefully, easily solved when it arrives.
The windscreen looks good. You needed a picture of you on the bike. Do you look through it or over it? I like looking over them. Thanks for covering all the mods. Very helpful.
I realy like the heated grips. This is what KTM should have aimed for instead of the oem's. Did you have to do anything to the throttle tube to install the grip on that side?
I installed these on my 790 last week. You need to scrape / cut off all the bumps that are under the OEM rubber grip. Check out 790adventure .net for their write up. In addition to the bits they point out to remove, you also need to remove a few of the "rings" of plastic around the tube. It's not noted that they need to be removed but you'll soon realize the grip won't slide on without removing and won't slide on far enough without removing.
I use the Puig for cold weather riding, visor attached to small stock shield for warm weather. Seats Comfort std. hgt. Comfort seat is great. Maybe you can exchange the tall one for it. I use Rade Garage lowered foot pegs which made a noticeable difference in knee bend comfort (I'm 5'10" but have a 32" inseam) and was just enough added distance to not feel the need for bar risers while standing. Looked at the Wings pipe too but ended up with a Dobermann Ti. The Aurora lights are on my Christmas list to me! Looked at several other brands/options and keep coming back to the Auroras. Still planning on doing their turn signal kit? Since I've been into the headlight to do the turn signals it will go easier when I do the Auroras. I want to replace the mirrors at some point too, not sure with which ones yet. Yea, I'd say your pretty much done too with mods (minus a few do-dads over time). Mine has to go into the shop for the countershaft seal leaking oil at 2,800 miles...sigh.
Lol welcome to the short riders club on tip toes😂 I thought seat concepts has a regular comfort seat 🤔 And thought stock bike has a few adjustments for bars🤔
Hey man, I've watched a few of your vids and enjoyed them all. Lots of information in each. I recently saw your log house video and it was another one that the background looked familiar. In another you rode passed a Hwy 243 sign. Do live around Idyllwild? I'm in Palm Springs, but split my time with my place near the Idyllwild nature center. If this is the case, I have a KTM 1290 SA, and a 450 exc. If any good rides are heading this way, I'd appreciate a tip. Thanks so much for the cool vids. Keep it up. T
Ok you said it is the tall seat from seat comfort. Why not just buy the regular height seat concepts seat? I have the standard height seat concept seat and it is fantastic!
Great videos. I have a question. I have read and heard about the buffeting issue some have experienced on this KTM. Is this related to the windscreen? I have never owned a motorcycle with a windscreen. Coming from that background I wonder if I would notice the buffeting. I am planning an Alaska trip next summer and think I will either get the KTM 790 or the Yamaha T7. The KTM currently my no.1 choice, I already own another KTM and it is available with cruise control.
love my 790R. Stock windshield. I'm 5'11" tall with 32 inseam. Buffeting is bad. Nothing works, off, down or up. Added givi spoiler. With windshield in upper location and givi all the way up, it ALMOST gets wind off my head, but I still have to duck down a little to get clean air. If I get a tall comfort seat it will be back the same, so I'm considering the full puig touring windshield now for long rides at least.
I have the same Puig wind screen with the clip on spoiler. I have a long torso, so there still is some wind at the top of my helmet. if i crouch down a little bit behind it, i‘m completely out of the wind, though. The whole wind screen business, the mounting point of it, and everything is the worst motorcycle design bungle i‘ve seen in the last year. Because of the handle bar position it is too narrow and the wind will hit you anyway on the sides. As far as the 2 part seat of the standard model goes, i‘ll have it upholstered because the stock foam padding is too soft and too thin. And the seat is sloping too far towards the tank. There simply are no satisfactory aftermarket solutions to this available now.

Hola Ian
Gracias por mostrar las modificaciones en tu 790 Adv R.
Tengo una y tus recomendaciones son muy útiles 👍🏻

Great build. Ticks all the boxes now. You’re house is bloody lovely too mate. I’m super jealous!
Great useful info will maybe look at the Puig windscreen for cooler fall riding Nice lights looking at that for my next upgrade

Awesome video as usual Ian. Subject change. You live in a beautiful spot by the looks.

Yes the backlighting was regrettable.
I am always learning... thanks

Everything on my wish list

Yep my seal is now leaking. Those turn signals are not available anymore...
@@BigRockMoto I was just on the Cyclops site, they show the turn signals now available.
Love your vlogs! I’m 95% confident that Puig is pronounced like pugh, rhymes with stooge.

Did you ever try the rally seat? I’m wondering whether at 5’11” you’d find that too tall too
You like the seat but it's too tall. So why would you not buy the Seat Concepts standard 790R seat???
Very helpful - making a very similar set-up. Do you mind sharing how you mounted the ram that way and what accessories are needed?
You need a base plate, bolt that to the bike, then an arm, and a device mount
What happened with the windshield spoiler? It didn’t work and you ended up liking better a larger windscreen?
Is the screen you changed to the light smoke or dark tint model. It’s hard to tell from the video.
Now that more time has gone by, do you still like the 790? Any issues with reliability? Would you buy one again?
Thanks for the info on the mods - very helpful. Can you confirm that the Puig windscreen is the clear version, and not the light smoke?
they have 3 models, there is also dark smoke. I'm guessing he has a light smoke...
Yes
Why not try the low or regular rally seats, not the tall models, from seat concepts?
What is your opinion about the "ram mounts" in that position ? Does it shake a lot ?
Ok you said it is the tall seat from seat comfort. Why not just buy the regular height seat concepts seat? I have the standard height seat concept seat and it is fantastic!
Thanks
Nice update, what size tank bag are you using? Thanks!
Try the KTM rally seat
Great videos. I have a question. I have read and heard about the buffeting issue some have experienced on this KTM. Is this related to the windscreen? Great mods. On the wings exhaust, it looks like you removed the cat. Did the wings come with the mid pipe, or did you purchase that separately?
I have not removed the cat
Thanks for the tips 👍 What is your helmet camera and settings?
Any issues or other concerns with the 790 so far? Did the Wings slip-on affect fueling?
It runs great
Where to buy the seat...i could not understand how much low is that...can you repeat
Look for a KLR 250 if you want to have both feet flat on the ground.
How much is your lenght and Have you had a problem with the puig ?
I am 5 foot 11, it works well for me
Any plans for a decat?
Glad it worked out but damn thats one ugly windshield
What helmet do you have?
Seems with KTM we are the Beta testers!?

@@markc8382 I got mine on Amazon.
Puig windshield is a piece of shit man! It blows off your hands because of these cut-outs.
Sorry but exhaust sounds absolute rubbish too!
