I appreciate that you address the different finish between this pen and the anodized models. Very helpful!

The Aeros are one of my favourite pens with my preference being the broad.

I just got mine, and also a Broad.
I got so excited to try it at home I forgot to buy an ink for it. I want it to be my black-ink pen. I only have Noodler's black I use for work in a Lamy Lx. There's no way I want to stain the Aero and dedicate that black to it just yet. Not until I get a second one. :P
Right now I have it inked up with Iroshizuku Ama-iro. I haven't used the two cartridges it came with yet, which are blue and black. Perhaps I should have started with those first.
Update: I found that there is a tiny bit of quality issue with the threading compared to the anodized models. Some of the paint got into the threads and making the threading not as smooth as the anodized ones I tried at the store. Sometimes it even binds. I didn't find it on the Medium nib model I tried, but on my Broad one there is. A very easy fix really. Keep the converter/cartridge in to protect the feed, and you may also cover the nib with cling wrap.
I first used a few drops of spray-on silicon grease onto both male and female threads. But don't spray it on, it's messy and could contaminate the nib. Then I screwed the barrel and the section on and off all the way repeatedly until I felt a marked improvement in smoothness. Then I wipe both threads clean before applying a tiny bit of grease. No need to be fancy. Just get one of those in a tube that you use with RC cars. Get the cheapest one at a hobby store, or a 3D printer store. I got white lithium grease in a 10g tube. Wipe off the excess after screwing them on and off and leave whatever is left in the threads. Now it's not free-spinning smooth, but there's no binding and scratchiness. I would grease my next Aero too without the silicon treatment, just to keep the anodization on longer.
