  • Here is a retake of one of the most interesting tunnel washes that I’ve gone through. I did a retake because my last video of this wash wasn’t that great and I some of the equipment wasn’t operational yet.
Minit Car Wash originally opened their doors in 1965 in Worcester MA. They had one location at first, but in 1970, they purchased their second Worcester site. Finally, in 1984, they bought their third and final location in Worcester MA. They owned and operated these locations up until 2004, when they sold them to Scrub-A-Dub. As of today, the Park Ave location was completely torn down and a new building with Tommy/AVW equipment will be built, still under the Scrub-A-Dub name.
Also in 2004, Minit bought this location and have stuck with it ever since. Originally, it had an exterior tunnel wash, touch free in-bay automatic and 3 self service bays. But according to one of the owners here (who I’ve met) they permanently closed the self service bays for a reason that I forget, and they converted the 3rd bay into an equipment room. So now, they only operate the express exterior tunnel and touch free automatic.
The touch free automatic was originally a Belanger Vector Rapid Wash, that had a few upgrades done to it. Such as new wash arms, signage and a iBubblizer Hot Wax applicator. Minit then replaced it with Massachusetts’s very first Petit AccuTrac 360-i. A much faster and more reliable system. Around this time, they were doing some work on the tunnel wash as well.
It is unknown what the original wash equipment in the tunnel was, but if I had to guess, it was either old Hanna or Belanger equipment. Now the tunnel wash uses a whole mish-mash of manufacturers. 2 Motor City Wash Works mitters (weren’t working when I visited), Sonny’s wraps, van brushes, side to side mitter and dryers, PECO rinse arches and dryers and a set of Petit washers. One being the 360-t high pressure unit and the XR, the Presoak applicator.
Chemicals are from Simoniz, including the Ceramic Sealant and Hot Wax & Shine.
The wash shown in this video was the $29 Protect It package which included:
    *Ceramic Sealant
    *Hot Wax & Shine
    *Paint Shield
    *Rain Shield
    *Foam Bath
    *Triple Foam Polish
    *Tire Shine
    *Wheel Brite
    *Undercarriage
    *Spot Free Rinse
    Wash Quality: 10/10
Comments: the wash did a fantastic job once again! It got all the dirt, bugs and mud off of the car. If you want a deep, thorough clean, come here!
