I live in Barcelona (I'm Irish) try and get along the coast to Badalona (I'm a triathlete) was there today, dead close to a great (quiet climb) in Tiana. I love this city, great for cycling.
I started to travel to Barcelona in the pre-cheap airline time when flights used to be expensive and nobody traveled to Barcelona. There was a tourism office underground at Plaça de Catalunya where hotel rooms were reserved. It was amazing in summer time because 4 star business hotels were cheap, something like 7000 pesetas/night. Later on I got used to smaller hotels in the city center, some of them also good but possible elevator problems. In the 21st century Barcelona isn't as attractive as it was. Hence, I don't travel to BCN much anymore because there are too many tourists, pick pockets and very little Catalan lifestyle. However, if I spend time in BCN, I always book a hotel at the coast in the Port Olympic / Diagonal Mar areas. Then you can have a modern hotel with a big enough elevator and avoid spending time in the Ramblas and other areas with all those problems mentioned above.
Its just like with Paris, super popular with tourists so always avoid the touristy areas for everything but sightseeing. Paris has so many beautiful places if you just dont go where tourists are
@@ChrisHallRides Afternoon Chris, Barcelona is a brilliant city for any tourist......and it's not far away at all for us to experience & enjoy 👍 have a great weekend Chris 👍. Currently bike miles training for the ETAP Caledonia in May 🙂
The closer comparison would be the Argon 18 Krypton as opposed to this bike which is their gravel bike, the Dark Matter. The Krypron is to me is what a more all road bike should be. The Caledonia is still quite race focused
Live in Spain and know all too well about the tiny lifts. Did you try popping the bike up on it's back wheel and going in at a 45 deg angle?. I can usually squeeze me and the bike in doing that, but then have to apologise to the other residents with "lo siento, no hay espacio" 😁. Nice look around Barna 👍
I go 6 or 7 times a year. Normally for concerts and Primavera Sound. I love that city although im normally on the sauce big time .... Incidentally the Primavera festival is on where you were cycling around beside Auditorio in Parc Del Forum. I'll be there in 4 weeks!
lol i feel you, worst thing is how they name the floors fooling you into being less floors than there actually are. You always need to 2 floors to the count
Another great video. Thank you. 🙂 It looked like you're using the Schwalbe G-One Overland tires. What do you think of them? I just ordered a pair for a ride next month from St. Malo to Barcelona. I'm hope they're going to be everything I, er hope they for. 😂
Thank you! These are the Schwalbe G-One R tires on this bike which are one of their fastest gravel tieres but they really are much more of a racing tire. The Overland is absolutely fantastic. I'll be using them for some ultras this year and have them on my winter bike as well. They still roll pretty fast but much better puncture protection.
@@joekawasaki3:02 if you care to confirm 😂. Apparently Red Hook is a Brooklyn neighborhood, so it would have been quite an oversight to leave out the namesake!
Yeah. Got mugged at the airport with Gardia watching...me and a colleague from Tokyo. Airport Captain said the Gardia were there to prevent terrorism not crime 🤯. My colleague was very high up in his company...ended up pulling the company exhbit from the trade show after being scolded by police for "not being careful."
@@jimpeyton1459I used to live down town, I would never go back there. It is a disgusting place, 80% of the crime is committed by people from a country we aren't allowed to mention. Many of them have 100's of previous and are allowed to continue their 'work' as to deport them would be racist

Legend has it he's still climbing those stairs
Still going up now
Some very nice architecture, and quiet roads, from what I could see. So not bad at all, apart from the stairs.
Too many stairs
@@kevinlyon9501 the tiled stairs are a bloody death trap too in cleats.
Lovely Barcelona! Good memories from Ironman Barcelona, a good few years ago now......happy, but hard days!

Nice video, how rides the Argon 18? How does it compare to the Caledonia?

I did indeed try that. When I say this was a tiny lift I mean TINY. To the point that it’s tight for two people just standing in it
That's super tiny ! @@ChrisHallRides 😅

You left out Red Hook in Brooklyn, New York as a location for the red hook crit!
I thought I’d mentioned that one. Must have been in a clip I didn’t use in the end

They are absolutely sick of Tourists and Air Bnb'ers over there. The city is over ran to be fair. Lots of "Tourists Out" graffiti down around El Born.
