- 🏰 We’re covering the Dorian mode to get all Renaissance. Huzzah!
🏊 Deeper dive: The lute dulcimer is modal. We have all the possibilities of playing other modal scales without the capo but having the open strings at the correct position will reenforce our mode. However, an alternate way to get Dorian sans capo is to tune the double/high string down a whole step. For a D tuned dulcimer this would be D, A, C. Now playing up and down the melody string we’re in Dorian! Maybe I should cover this in another lesson 🤔
Shout out to @feltyourself for the custom hat! Check their work out 🫵🏻
I’ll be here when your ready for your lute dulcimer!

A trail dulcimer with a lute-like body? Now that's an instrument I'd invest my time in.
I'll be here to build you one when you're ready
@@wildsparrowstrings thanks bro! Much appreciated.
where'd you get your bard costume!
The one in this video is a hodgepodge. The shirt and cloak were gifted (probably bought affordably offline), pants are actually thrift store capris, and the hat was from a trade with the hat maker FeltYourself (on Insta/FaceBook).
May I ask what make and model your lute dulcimer is? I love it!
I think you know by now :-P sorry for the late reply
Hey bro, how do i go about getting myself a lute like yours?
You can contact me via my email at wildsparrowstrings@gmail.com and we can discuss a build. I make them by hand.
You can also check my website first to see what I’ve got for sell currently and/or look through my archive for build ideas.
Thanks for asking ✌🏻
