Congratulations. I knew you would get there. A tough time in your boating lives, but you have gained so much knowledge about your boat and boat construction that will be of benefit in the years ahead. As you sail the seas, other accidents may happen but at least you know even challenging problems can be resolved. Happy sailing.

Awesome news 🥰So so happy for you both to see the expedition platform back in its proper place... The Water .... Yay Yay Yay, best wishes from New Zealand
GOOOOD GOOD good !! Together you faced and gracefully overcome this “ challenging episode” Very well done Pat and Frankie. You can be proud of your selfs , and now.. fair winds , good sails and good times!! Enjoy 🎉
I'm impressed! I can't believed you got this all done in only 4-1/2 months! Especially with having to negotiate with 2 insurers and dealing with multiple surveyors and repair firms. You all should be PROUD of what you have done, what you have accomplished, and most of all your perseverance through what could have been incredibly debilitating emotional circumstances. And now you have a boat that is better than you bought. You guys are inspirations.
Thank you very much! This means a lot to us! Sometimes it was a really tough time but now we are happy that we managed all this and have a much better boat now! Looking forward to everything what’s coming..😀
I join so many others in being relieved and happy that you are back in the water and that chapter of your life has come to a close. One good thing to consider - the keel loosened in the boat yard - not at sea. In a way, this was fortunate timing. Now you can venture forth with confidence that your vessel is stronger than you got it!
You are absolutely right, we are so happy this happened on dry land! 🙏🏼 We are so looking forward to being back on the sea 🤗 Thanks for being here with us!

Congratulations. Honestly, I did not see that in the stars, but I'm happy you proved my mind wrong. All the best on your journeys. I think fate ows you something ;)
Well done all. This looked like a well managed repair. A coordinated team will always win out. Now please think carefully about your sea trials and all the individual aspects that need to be tested to ensure that you are absolutely confident in the integrity of the boat after what has been a very seriously damaged hull and keel interface. Also in conjunction with the repairer and your engineer, draw up a an inspection plan for the next year for you to periodically record the condition of the repair under seagoing conditions. This is precautionary exercise and well advised from a safety standpoint.
Thank you 😊 We will take your words and do that. The team that has worked on the boat will also check some things again after the first sail and we are keeping a record!
Congratulations, Pat and Frankie! I'm so proud of you! Amazing job staying diligent and patient. Thank you again for documenting the process for the sailing community! Safe travels and I look forward to following you in the future. Something that might be fun is closely documenting the performance of your boat for viewers. The design of your boat got a lot of hate in the comments here, and I know from being a sailor myself that high-aspect keel and rudder cruising boat designs get a lot of hate in the sailing community. Some real-world reporting of how well your boat performs in your many coming future passages, in different conditions, would be very cool!

Vielen Dank! 😊 Interessanter weise vertrauen wir Hi jetzt noch mehr als zuvor - vielleicht weil wir sie so gut kennengelernt haben in diesem Prozess und viel mehr über sie wissen. ☺️
@6:42 sub note made me smile: 1/3 ft is never really used. In Canada we’d say 4” or 4 in. But I love 1/3’. I should totally come up with correct values, but that are so strange to see, like 128/32 in. and use them in everyday life. 😂 love it. Cheers.
@ I wish we just used the metric system in Canada. Irony is: officially Canada is all metric but imperial system is still stuck everywhere, especially in construction.
Awesome to see things progress so well. Has the process put the boat back in the same condition as it was at the point things went awry? When you had to take the inside cabinetry apart etc I was nervous that things would not be as good as it was. It looks fab though, and congratulations for keeping the faith and I look forward to some more normal adventures with you both. ❤
First of all - thanks for being with us this whole time! 🫶 The boat is structurally better than before as the frames werd laminated to the hull. The interior is the same. We are grateful for the craftsmanship and it looks as nothing happened .. 😊
It floats which is a bonus, now you need to go to sea with full sails into 30 kts heeled over at 45 degrees into slamming seas to see if theres any issues.
@@patandfrankie i hope you get some confidence in the repairs. I'm not being negative but you need to know the repairs are sound before you leave the comfort of the contractors. if you can go out in a force 9 gale on every point of sail you'll have confidence in the repair, thats my opinion.

Great happy video. You have a good group of people helping with the repairs. Also being organized is critical with a sailboat. The sunglasses you both put on are hideous though.
@@patandfrankie What I want to say is that when Pat appears so close in the video 🤩, my mind is blocked and I can no longer see attention to everything else.🙌🙌
well lets hope for the best, i agree that this keel design is for high performance and speed , and not a robust cruising boat. Would not be my choice either for around the world cruising . Nevertheless i wish them great cruising !!!
You can go back to the video „part 1“ which is kind of the beginning. We took down one video due to insurance reasons. And this one explains a bit about the damage th-cam.com/video/JIagF7ja10M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xjw3uIyX0kw9zlLg 😉
Nice to hear that 😁 It was a combination of bad manufacturing, which showed up in the surveys and tests (like the drilling of holes in the structural components) and the lowering of the boat on the keel, which led to abnormal force and „popped“ the structure ..
@@patandfrankie thanks. Must have been more of the bad manufacturing. Lifting boats on top of their keels is done at least once a year here in Finland. It could have been the last straw that broke the camel's back in Your case. Good that it happened there and not in the sea.
Amazing channel, congratulations for all the job you had to do... I was also interested in the reason why you guys had such a problem (and I also watched your videos), the lowering of the boat when you got this problem was done not properly? I mean if they had lowered on the keel in some other way the boat wouldn't have suffered that damage despite the bad manufactured of the boat? ..Thank you
We are very happy for Yous. Huge thanks to family, friends, insurance companies, boatyard and entire Team of Professionals 😅👍👌☝️❤️🌍🌟

@6:42 sub note made me smile: 1/3 ft is never really used. In Canada we’d say 4” or 4 in. But I love 1/3’. I should totally come up with correct values, but that are so strange to see, like 128/32 in. and use them in everyday life. 😂 love it. Cheers.
Thanks for your message on that 😁 we were sitting in front of the laptop wondering what the correct way would be to break that down 😄 cheers! 😊
@ I wish we just used the metric system in Canada. Irony is: officially Canada is all metric but imperial system is still stuck everywhere, especially in construction.

Congrats!
Thanks!! 😊
congrats
Thank you!! 😊
The boat is structurally better than before as the frames werd laminated to the hull. The interior is the same. We are grateful for the craftsmanship and it looks as nothing happened .. 😊
@ I couldn’t be more pleased for you. ❤️. Fantastic seeing your beautiful boat back and readying for …….Adventures!
🤗
It floats which is a bonus, now you need to go to sea with full sails into 30 kts heeled over at 45 degrees into slamming seas to see if theres any issues.
It’s more than a bonus 😄 we‘ll go for a proper shake down cruise, the Canary Islands are perfect for this!

Thanks for your words 🤗 We are so grateful for the professionals that worked on out boat!
Pat if you put those first planes 😱 I finish watching the video and I realize that I have not learned anything 🤪🥴
Sorry, we don’t understand what you mean? 🤔
@@patandfrankie What I want to say is that when Pat appears so close in the video 🤩, my mind is blocked and I can no longer see attention to everything else.🙌🙌
Nice
Thanks
good look
Thank you 😁
🎉
🥰🍾
With that kind of kiel it's still a fragile boat waiting for the next disaster.
It‘s better than from the factory, and we are happy with our choice ☺️
well lets hope for the best, i agree that this keel design is for high performance and speed , and not a robust cruising boat. Would not be my choice either for around the world cruising . Nevertheless i wish them great cruising !!!

Last pee on the dry.
😂😂😂😂🍻
😂🤣😂
The mast track sounds a bit dry. Don't forget to clean it and lube it before taking off.
Thanks! We’ll do it! 😊
Well done guys, you made it. Your resilience and patience has paid off. 👏
Yess 😊😊😊 bis smiles over here! Thanks for your support!
Next Minet LOL
🤔😀
Did You have a video explaining what actually happened?
You can go back to the video „part 1“ which is kind of the beginning. We took down one video due to insurance reasons. And this one explains a bit about the damage th-cam.com/video/JIagF7ja10M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xjw3uIyX0kw9zlLg 😉
@@patandfrankie Thanks. I have watched all the videos :) I was wondering what caused the damage. Old damage from before, or during docking?
Nice to hear that 😁
It was a combination of bad manufacturing, which showed up in the surveys and tests (like the drilling of holes in the structural components) and the lowering of the boat on the keel, which led to abnormal force and „popped“ the structure ..
I mean if they had lowered on the keel in some other way the boat wouldn't have suffered that damage despite the bad manufactured of the boat? ..Thank you
What’s the make of the boat?
It’s a Grand Soleil.
I just started watching. What country are y’all from?
Hi! Welcome and good to have you here! 😊 we are both originally from Germany, but moved around a lot and lived in Austria lastly ☺️
No grey hairs, well at least not yet!
Def one two more, but they’ll blend in with the sun kisses hair once we are back on the ocean 😂
