No. B.O.O. is not being released later this year. Variety published an article about anticipated movie performances and erroneously stated that Rashida Jones will have a role in B.O.O. which was stated to be coming out later this year. These films got cancelled due to leadership changes at Dreamworks back in 2015 due to box office flops. Because of that most of the crew left to work on other projects or studios.
The movie was going to be released on June 5, 2015 by DreamWorks Animation’s then distribution partner at the time 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios), but in the winter of 2014-15 DreamWorks pulled it from release and cancelled it.

No. Variety published an article about upcoming performances and mentioned B.O.O. being a movie that an actress would star in. The journalist was incorrect and this has been disproven by multiple crew members at DreamWorks. I was also the person that initially made the announcement of the Variety article, a friend of mine had sent the article to me directly. Unfortunately, even though I specifically stated within my announcement that the article was likely wrong, people took it and ran with it like it was true.@@AmicusAdastra
I think it was funny how this movie was going to come out after home because it would had been like the movie monsters vs aliens. Think about it. Home is about aliens and ghost are technically monsters so this movie and home were like monsters vs aliens. If this movie did ended coming out I think it would had been pretty ok. It look like another animated movie made for kids just like penguins of Madagascar. I do like the villian of the movie. He’s like a mix of pitch from rise of the guardians and goob from meet the Robinsons. Although I think me and my shadow was more interesting. But if that movie did came out me Peabody and Sherman would had never came out which is I kinda think it’s a good choice since mr Peabody and Sherman was one of the more underrated Dreamworks movies.
This project is so much better than the emoji movie!! And DreamWorks could had bigger and better movies if they Didn't pick turbo home trolls the boss baby and Mr Peabody and Sherman

I get not making it into a movie in it's current state, but at the very least give us a novelisation to experience the story. Who knows, if it sells well it could indicate interest in a movie. All in all, it's sad the director of the movie never got to see it in it's final form, and his reputation ruined by his later movie, the emoji movie.
Funny you say that, a novelization of this film was completed but never published for obvious reasons. The author isn't comfortable sharing it mainly due to legal concerns.
I might be crazy but if you pause at this very moment -> 2:46 the characters look a bit A.I. generated (judging the emotions and and how comparative it is to the A.I. Dumpster fire we all now had to deal with)

I'm pretty sure there is chance of it after the wild robots released but we don't know what's DreamWorks gonna do next after the movie but finger crossed it could be
The reason it was cancelled because well dreamworks delayed it from its 2015 release date to avoid competition with Pixar’s inside out and they cancelled because dreamworks assumed that it would be a box office failure.
This is common with workprints and testing animations. Music from pre-existing movies is picked to simply convey the mood until the score for the film is finished and available. This wasn't meant for public viewing, so the filler music wasn't a concern.
@@andreg.ignacio DreamWorks' previous films had not been very successful and there wasn't much trust that this would be any different. It also just wasn't very well liked by the CEO at the time and was already inflating in budget.

So Tony Leondis left this project, moved to Sony Pictures Animation and directed The Emoji Movie... Why?
Because the Emoji Movie was based on Tony’s idea on wanting to make a movie inspired by Toy Story but with emojis.
@@spaceboyctstudios2934 Also because Dreamworks shutted down Pacific data images and cancelled this film at January of 2015.
