I think it was funny how this movie was going to come out after home because it would had been like the movie monsters vs aliens. Think about it. Home is about aliens and ghost are technically monsters so this movie and home were like monsters vs aliens. If this movie did ended coming out I think it would had been pretty ok. It look like another animated movie made for kids just like penguins of Madagascar. I do like the villian of the movie. He’s like a mix of pitch from rise of the guardians and goob from meet the Robinsons. Although I think me and my shadow was more interesting. But if that movie did came out me Peabody and Sherman would had never came out which is I kinda think it’s a good choice since mr Peabody and Sherman was one of the more underrated Dreamworks movies.

I get not making it into a movie in it's current state, but at the very least give us a novelisation to experience the story. Who knows, if it sells well it could indicate interest in a movie. The reason it was cancelled because well dreamworks delayed it from its 2015 release date to avoid competition with Pixar’s inside out and they cancelled because dreamworks assumed that it would be a box office failure.
This is common with workprints and testing animations. Music from pre-existing movies is picked to simply convey the mood until the score for the film is finished and available. This wasn't meant for public viewing, so the filler music wasn't a concern.

The movie was going to be released on June 5, 2015 by DreamWorks Animation’s then distribution partner at the time 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios), but in the winter of 2014-15 DreamWorks pulled it from release and cancelled it.
Except now it's back on DreamWorks' release schedule.
