Was there about 2 months ago, Ramses Station. 1 week in Egypt, mostly in Alexandria, and a day in Cairo. Took the train from Alexandria to Cairo and back. Had my ticket bought the morning before. 1st class and cheap. Huge seats and so nice. Never had any issues with locals (i blend in, was mistaken for Egyptian twice lol). Train ride was smooth, but slower as there was a train ahead of us and we was a bit delayed. Think it was a 3 hour trip (2 hours from Alex to Cairo). You're correct about the no English there, luckily I learned the basics of phrases and numbers. (still learning). Tipping is always there for anything. And the 15:1 ratio to USD was helpful. Great people and great trip. The farm lands was amazing to see too out there on the way to Cairo, but was dark on the way back. Great video. If you go back, I highly recommend staying at Four Seasons. They take care of you and you are a king there. Also Uber there is always better than taxi for me.
Nice! You’ve changed my view on Egypt KT, before I’d only been to touristy places there because I was travelling with my kid but seeing your vlogs makes me realise I need to head back now. Keep’em coming dude! And as an aside if you’re still in the region in 3 weeks time I’ll be in Palestine at the beginning of November so head over if you fancy a beer?
Alexandria is my favorite city in Egypt to spend time and live life, by far. Currently hitchhiking in Mexico, but will be in the Middle East at the end of the year
