Kevin yes I did and It solved the problem!! So the starter I had giving me issues has a metric housing, the block is standard, I believe the original problem starter was a 3510M I put in a 3510(3/8 mounting holes) no more hitting the flywheel and engages everytime !!! This was a head scratcher for me as I’m not a hot rod guy 😎. Hope this helps
@@jonhsmith2706 the difference is the mounting hole size. The 3510 has standers sized 3/8 bore as opposed to a metric size. The difference in size although small is enough to course issues with the starter meshing correctly.
Did you find the right starter. I am having the same issue. I shim it and it starts fine a couple of times then it grinds. Shim again and same thing.
