    Thank you, I looked all over for a presso rod, and finally found a place 5 miles away that had them! Getting the 6’6” model you recommended.
    I am also buying my first JDM setup!
    Daiwa 20 Gekkabijin x 200sp reel from Digitaka, and I found a gekkabijin rod that perfecly matches the reel being sold in Europe. (Both in the $100 range before shipping.) beautiful rod and reel.
    It comes in both tubular and solid tip. I am going to get the tubular model after watching your video.
    Thank you, I love your channel!

    I just watched full vid. They stocked some big ones this year. Milliken is only 7 feet deep so the trout die when the water warms up since it is so shallow so they have to be newly stocked big boys. That second one was real nice. Congrats on new PB. I just read that Crook county forest preserve lakes are having late opener April, 7th. If no rain I have to hit that.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jp040759

      @@ifishcatfish None that I know of around here. There are about 50 lakes supposedly that stock trout in the state. ILDNR website lists them all. I think they are just all relatively small lakes. This is first time I heard of late opener.

    Nice catch...my PB trout is 6.4 lbs. The biggest ones always come by either a mini tube jig or a double dropshot with plastic minnows. But I don't fish with 2lb. line anymore, they started planting trout with an avg weight of 4 to 6lbs. here in southern California. They mix them with little pan size trout from fish and game hatcheries!

I couldn't find a Daiwa Presso 8', but just ordered a 7'6" one. Hopefully it does. Cannot seem to find the Daiwa GEKKABIJIN SW LIGHT JIGHEADS anymore you raved about in previous video's. I keep see why too, they looked awesome. Keep up the good work. I like your channel.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 7'6 is even better, if you don't need the reach and the distance. And if you fish shallow, the 7'6 provides plenty of distance anyway. I use the 8 foot only because i usually fish 6-7 foot deep and i hate slip floats

    Nice job! What a monster! What length rods do you usually use? Would a 7’4” rod be too long for jigging panfish/ crappie?
    I saw a Daiwa gekkabijin rod (ul 0.5-5gram) that would perfectly match the daiwa 20 gekkabijin 2000s-p reel I just ordered from Digitaka.

      @@ifishcatfish did I tell you about my experience with
      My uncle and his 150 dollar aluminum net. He landed a huge huge stargazer (google it, saltwater). I grab his net and proceed to net the fish. I got it in the net. Then I proceeded to go horizontal with it from a vertical position. I need two loud snaps. Aluminum pole snapped. Fish still on. I had no experience with large saltwater fish, aluminum nets and coming over a steel pier. Proper procedure is vertical straight up hand over hand. Uncle cut off piece of his prized net, and returned it working condition. I learned an important lesson.

    My experience. Day one: 35 fish alone in scouted places. Day2. Go to popular spot, 10 people there, 2 in waders in the river. Watch, no fish. I drop my fish cast, plastic, fish on. I drop my second cast, follow current , fish on. Then I continue to catch fish after fish on plastics while everyone around me just watches. After half an hour, wader guys go down river etc and catch nothing. People then come to me and yell impolitely “you using worms or spinner”. I say I am using PLASTICS. More people every few minutes yell to me asking me what I am using, I say plastics!! And I am switching between different colors and types of plastic. I am on fish 20 something, everyone around me has zero. Many quit in disgust and go back to the car. Some come next to me in my spot and catch nothing and leave in disgust. I then go to their spots, thinking I had a good spot, and I catch fish after fish in a spot they didn’t catch anything with. People continue to impolitely yell at me asking me what I am using, people have lost their social skills. One gentleman with his young child in the middle of this ask me if bite was good, I said yes, stacked. I watch him fish for an hr and no bites. I get bored. Walked over to him and he smiled at me. I gave him some advice, gave him my Jdm hooks and lures. And his daughter gave me a hand painted rock as a gift. I am willing to share knowledge and help, but if anyone is rude to me because of her insecurity in their own abilities, they will gain nothing from me. Good job with the trout and there is a reason why you outfished everyone around you. Because or practice, dedication and thinking outside the box.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I fished for trout in a strem once. First time in the spot and got 5 trout while my family ate lunch and we had to leave. Even got it on video but its sensitive. With streams u can always present the bait close to fish. Lakes are difficult. Fish all goes deep when the sun comes out and there is nothing u can do about without a boat. I dont think there is a trout that can resist my little jdm lures running in front of its face. When im not getting bites i have confidence that the fish is somewhere else.
