      IL DNR has been sucking hard last few years and i even quit trout fishing, but this... this can make me a fan again. Seven trout over 2 pounds in 3 trips.

    Drag sounds so good on that reel.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i noticed that on the video. I wonder why, because it is the same clicker. I did put two metal bearings on the spool. Maybe the spool vibrates better when it is resting on metal. Plastic bushings can dampen vibration. Thats my only guess

      @@ifishcatfish I watch many of your videos. So if I want a loud ultralight drag clicker on a good reel for freshwater I should go Shimano Sahara? I have a penn fierce 3 1000. Good reel but quiet. Also have Sienna (red one) and it’s loud but I’m sure not as nice as Sahara. I’m talking in the 75-100 range.

      Oddly enough I found 4 of the 6.6ul2 that we where able to pair up with the 2020 older color legalis 1000s. and he still has a couple of the 5.6 and 7s left, I am very tempted to get a 7 or two to try my hand at float fishing goldeye, crappie etc

    Had to watch that again wow that was fantastic.Ill let you know a secret. Fillet it and add a whole can and juice of pealed can manderine oranges to your mix in the pan. It turned into a sauce on fairly high heat like 7 on the stove. Somehow this makes it taste like a ocean caught spring salmon. I looked it up after well saving money in lemons. $400 Hong Kong reasturant rainbow trout only reference on Google.Like wolf it down candy.

    Out here on Vancouver Island that fish would have won the big derby with 400 rods in the water.The big ones travel alone. They don't mind garlic scent but mostly feed by sight. Also they don't mind size 12 to 14 swivels I use 3 to 5 brass ones as the small ones twist my fly lines up like well I'm the best untangler in the world . The swivels add additional flash as we'll a slight jigging action to the fly. I hook them in the tongue so I know their happy when they bite. I think the tail tickles there tongue. The big ones mouths are so scarded with previous encounters with angler's. I like 7.5 lb.to 10 lb.tippet because my drag is tight on my trolled fly.and my old triple fish person 2 lb.witch I bought in the 80's finally rotted I was heart broken but ended up with 7 5 lb. Scientific Angler flourcarbon when I ran out one 8lber. Even bite on a 10lb. Looked like Berkley Big Game that I caught off the bottom. I have noticed some days it doesn't matter.As I was more interested that day catching a trout on a variety of lures on a spinning rod. To you supprize I caught some on Flatfish and Panther Martin's Although the 8lber. was on my fly. I try to get the lure beside the fly so it attracts the trout to the general area and adds vibration to the mix. That's why I like your channel so much as I can learn about ultralight spin fishing. Also I've noticed while trolling the really big ones hook them selfs as the line tightens up while I'm turning up the trolling motor to full to assist that and further assist the hook set it sure wakes the big ones up Then I turn the drag right off. This ensures a good hook-up and I keep the trolling motor on for boat control. Even the best angler's lose many big one's because they omit the motor set. My friends whom one of witch is in my opinion the best Salmon angler in the world can't best me at the local trophy lake He has a 50lber. hanging on the fire place but has caught quite a few of those off Sooke BC His total catch of Salmon's is around 3 million and he does count them as he commercially fished most of them hook and line. He's funny at the lake. I say how's it going and he says"I got 35". But still he hasn't landed a large one since 1984. Mind you the 8lb. Sea Run Cutthroat fly fishing in Sooke Harbour is worth mentioning. Anyways you're trout was very impressive especially for the line test you use.
