Hearing him live was even more crazy. His vocal range goes from counter tenor to baritone. It's hard to believe he was just an office worker until he was 30.
He wasn't an office worker, he was a research chemical engineer (or research chemist) with several published papers to his name.
This was a great stage performance and his ability to switch voices so easily is amazing. He stayed in the 5th octave there, but technically he can go higher. He sang a C6 in "Champions". Of course it's risky to go to the limit, so he stayed in his safety zone. His gritty rock voice was a cool contrast to his soprano voice. I'm glad you enjoyed his rendition of this beautiful song.

Kang Hyung Ho is the only member that never actually had training. He was a chemical engineer and in a rock band as a hobby. I think that's why he could "rock out" so well in the Bohemian Rhapsody cover.
To be fair he did training after the show. I've read or see something mentionning that he took a coach to perfect his vocals.

I personally loved that mischievous glint in his eyes, when he knew perfectly well, that he was slaying the audience with this performance 😆
Vocally he actually made a really smart decision. His falsetto's really strong & sounded great, but his lower register, which he was using to sing the Phantoms part, was where he really shone. I mean Christine's part finishes on an E Flat 6! It's the money note but It's a killer & it's not unheard of for some singers to use a pre-recording of that final note "just in case". If you're singing that part every week, multiple times, there's gonna be occasions when fatigue etc takes it's toll. Whoever arranged the part for him did a great job of tayloring it to best effect for his voice. Loved the way he used his eyes & placement to indicate character changes too. It's a very hard thing to do to warm up to start off singing that high in your range & then switch down & go back & forth between registers.
btw just wanna add its head voice since its connected and has strong cord closure 💙
I prefer his lower notes , too. And , as far as I know, Hyungho himself as well!! He has always been very clear about it. Soprano singing just helped him to attract attention. He is, above all, a rock singer.

After this broadcast, his nickname became Kang Chri( Kang is his surname and Cri is Christine)
He actually digests a higher register. On his pitta TH-cam channel, he uploaded the female part half an octave up. And he did c6 in the song Champions. Also on the Immortal Songs program, he had a simple high-pitched contest with a female singer, and he played a higher note than the Champions. This video is probably the highest note he has ever shown. However, he had a cold and had to compete in a program, so he had to stop there. The member (Bae Doo-hoon) sitting next to him told him to stop because he was afraid of hurting him.😆 Just the fact that he freely changes his vocal style is amazing surprising. He was born with a great vocal cord.👍🏻

Forestella is a cross-over quartet from Korea, and its name is made from the mix of 'Forest + Stella'. They were formed at the TV show called ' Phantom Singers' and performed as a group since 2019. The members names are Woorim Ko (base), Minkyu Cho (Tenor), Doohoon Bae ( Baritone) and Hyungho Kang ( Counter Tenor). Famous songs they payed and reviewed by many are 'Bohemian Rapsody', 'Champions', 'Parla Piu Piano' , Nella Fantasia' and ' Phantom of Opera'.

Kang HyungHo has interesting life story.
He wanted to sing from his juvenil days but his parents didn't agree him to go to art school. So his music life started since he joined the rock band in the university. Even after graduation he continued the band and won the Grand-Prix in the workers' band contest in Busan. His sensational audition song- the Phantom of the Opera was his killer repertoire. He used to cover MUSE so he developed his falsetto that good. (He has not only very talented voice but also great singing technique.)
He was working as a research chemist in Lotte BP Chemical (Lotte INEOS now); quite good company providing high salary when he auditioned. As Phantom Singer audition was designed for making a (good-looking) classical crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea, there were bunch of opera singers who majored in classical vocal and well-known musical actors. He was the only office worker who majored in (chemical) engineering in whole participants. But he used to sing as a vocalist in an amateur rock band (the band name was Pitta but it became Pittaband afterwards) in his leisure time.
He stole the show singing the Phantom of the Opera duet song by himself. Now his audition clip has more than 3M views in Navercast and more than 10M views in sum of TH-cam videos only from Koreans as JTBC didn't release the video for abroad..
He said he had thought he would be able to quit from the music regretlessly with criticism he would get. But BAAMM! Thanks God he failed to quit from music! He quit from the research chemist job instead. lol
He was doing good in his job like to get promoted even while his audition. His company exceptionally offered him an year's leave of absence and he wrote 3 papers on chemical research theme while singing as Forestella. He quit his research chemist job 1 year after the debut as Forestella, in the end of leave of absence period he had. He would have worries and considering about career and steady salary, stable life but finally chose the life of professional musician. I really appreciate his decision from heart as a fan of him, and of Forestella.

i think PITTA is the name of the hard rock band Kang Hyung Ho sings with.
Both. Hyungho formed a rock band at college and it was named PITTA, but he also uses this name as his stage name as solo artist.

He was not at 100% when he did that song during the competition. He was under the weather so he toned that section down to not strain his voice......but he can hit those higher notes with ease. He is considered a counter-tenor

But Hyungho does not kill your ears like Dimash does, thanks God😅. Guys singing like sopranos is a fashion I hope it will not last long. Even Pitta himself prefers lower notes, as he is a rock lover above all.

Hyungho is a guy full of contrasts, very intense and emotional. Above all, he likes rock music and he does not want to sing all the time what he calls "feminine", so I think one day, if he succeeds, he might end up leaving Forestella...who knows, although it is obvious the four of them get on . I may be an alien but I prefer his low notes, Dimash hurts my ears, I am glad Hyungho does not overdo it😂.
