Excellent! The Best C7 ever! My vehicle has never seen a car wash because it is that clean. Just wax and wipe the dust off. I can't believe you drove in the rain, snow and icy roads. You have more guts than a whale. I mean wow!!
LOL. I've lived on gravel roads my entire life, and in places that dump snow, so driving in those conditions is just life for me. Thankfully, it's only a quarter mile of gravel from my house to the pavement so I can go slow and not get too dirty/muddy with the XL rock guard mudflaps installed. But just a wipe off isn't going to cut it. I'll be using the pressure washer to remove all the dirt every week I'm sure once the car comes back out in the spring. I only have an attached car port on the side of the house too, rather than a garage, so just sitting there it will get filthy from all the road dust. Ugh. None of my neighbors care about paving the road as much as I do to want to spend their money on it.
@@TheEarthwinders Excellent! I got it. You purchased an Arabian Horse with 650hp that is going to need a ton of TLC to operate properly. First make sure that vehicle has a new battery in it and can hold the charge. After 10 maybe 15 days the first few times starting the vehicle you need to feel that cold sudden fast crack sound of the vehicle that shakes the earth. That is the start you want to here. If it first sounds like a warm start like you just driven it like 3 hours ago then the battery is low or not holding the charge. C7 Battery Trickle Charger OEM GM 84529276. This vehicle likes a full charge to run properly. Long time sitting also can cause oil ring deposit in cylinder walls that you will smell. That burning smell! It will go away after driving 20 miles at operational temps a few times. I would at lease get a garage. Replace your yellow factory filter with the same one. Also you got magnetic ride control go easy on rough road not designed for that. Well enjoy and stay safe! Control that Arabian horse its not a old paint. Lots of TCL.

I had a load of gravel delivered and filled most of the poholes in the road by hand so at least it's smooth at 8mph, just dirty. I have plans for a garage, but want to pay cash so it'll be a bit.

But then I was pleasantly surprised how docile it is when you're trying to drive it gently. If you don't hammer the throttle, it won't bite you.
You'll get there! We were very patient and waited until we paid off our house before pulling the trigger on this. Makes it much easier to afford without a mortgage payment. But even that took many years of dedication and sacrifices to pay off very early. This reward is all the sweeter because of it.

There are two companies that set photographers up on the Tail. Killboy and 129Photos. They take about 10 photos of every car that goes by and upload them onto their websites based on vehicle type and then organized by date and time. So pay attention to what time you go by them to make it easy. They charged ~$10 for each digital photo that you want to buy, or you can get it prints, mugs, shirts, etc. The digital photos are reasonably priced I though, but I got a poster made elsewhere for $30 because it was cheaper than their websites.
I am happy for you but isn't 2017 that had the over heating issues? I am surprised that this car went on this long of a road trip and didn't over heat. How long did it take you to be able to handle 650 HP?
I recall reading something about them doing a limited recall for overeheating issues on the track for those who can document it happening to them, but I've never heard anything about overheating during normal driving. I don't do much extended hot lapping, and live in cool northern Idaho, so not too much of a concern. It took about 2 autocross weekends to feel like I had a good grasp on the power and started placing for trophies. The car is surprisingly docile to drive normally, and only bites when you put your foot to the floor.
I like the glass roof most of the time. It's actually plastic. Looks dark black from the outside and like heavy tinting from the inside but visibility is greatly improved with such a low roof line. The contours of the roof distort what you're looking at through it, but that's fine. The downside is that it can be bright on the eyes when the sun is overhead. I keep a hat in the car to put on to give some overhead shade to my eyes.

Happy to answer for you. The car had only 6500 miles on the odometer, and is a 2LZ, manual, with carbon flash pack, competition seats, and the fairly rare daytona sunrise orange metallic color. In this crazy market and for this rare specimen in the only color I wanted, I paid $77,999; which was the dealer's asking price. I couldn't even get them to budge a few hundred bucks. I was the first one to call, within hours of the vehicle being listed for sale, and by the time we closed the deal a couple hours after my first call, they said they had 2 other parties wanting the car too. With taxes, dealer doc fees, registration, and ~$3k for a 5 year warranty the total came to around $86k. Definitely more than I was wanting to spend, but low mileage cars that meet all of my desired check boxes (manual, this color, 2LZ+, comp seats) are few and far between. I've been watching for a year and this was the first one for sale that I found, so I figured I better take the opportunity, regardless of price, or it could be years, if ever, before the opportunity came up again.
*Tail of the Dragon. You might also be interested to know that there's an Oregon version of Tail of the Dragon called "Oregon's Little Dragon". We timed the Tail right, late in the year and very early in the morning on a weekday. In the summer, and weekends, it's apparently packed with cars and motorcyclists.

By the second day I was giving it full throttle in 2nd and 3rd gear on the freeway, but with traction control on to babysit me. 😁😅

I was using a Go Pro Hero 8 Black on a forehead strap for some of the in-car video, otherwise it was just cell phones.

What kind of tires were on the vette?
OEM tires for the first half of the trip, and then when we got to Colorado I swapped them out for Michelin Alpins to head over the rockies.
