This is pure idiocy reporting. If it's indeed rising ocean levels, you should see the same erosion everywhere, not just Maui. Selecting a small patch of beach is selective bias, and would never stand in any research as evidence of real phenomenon.

I lived there for 2 years. 2020 and 2021. There was no mention of this the whole time I was on Maui. I watched the tide come and go. Nothing changed. The water in Lahaina looked the same the whole time. The pics in the video are isolated beach erosion.

Odd how they don't mention the compacting, bulldozing and loss of natural vegetation to development.

Most Definitely. Just a Horrid amount of DEFORESTATION that has went on across the whole of Maui's Shorelines .😪🤙

Those whom are on the Global Warming soap box drive their cars to work and fly to their vacations. Manufacturing plants run full throttle 24/7 and use plastics for packaging. I could go on and on in that direction. The gears of the system will keep grinding and therefore, the Global Warming agenda is a moot point.

Or,the earth is Constantly changing, it's kind of how it got to. Where it is today with continents, islands, etc. Mother earth over millions of years changes. Pretty simple.

Paradise Lost? I don't think so. Horrible, over developed coastal area? Yes.

Have a look at Prince of Wales Drive, Port Botany, Australia, the sea wall protecting the Fluid Terminal built about 50 years ago hasn't moved. About 2 Klms long, links together like Lego, too big just can't move. This would be a big commitment however, would work. Each piece weights a few tons with not enough surface area for the sea to move it. There's thousands of tons of concrete all sliding together.

why did they remove the trees that hindered erosion? so they could build massive hotels right next to the water? you expect any sympathy? ROFL!

Yes, They DEFORESTED all the Coastal Vegetation . But we get mad at other countries that are Committing DEFORESTATION of their Country's .

Really - in case you didn't know, Australia is also in the Pacific and there is no rising sea levels there. Just how stupid do you think people are ???

Same in Pensacola beach Florida. The water on the dock is the same as it was 40 years ago.

No it's NOT. Man maid beach. That land was built up incorrectly. Those buildings are the cause. Poor engineering did the damage.

BUT.. it seems to have NOTHING to do with .. the DEFORESTATION and building of the big condos/Hotels or.. Million $ houses, or Golf Ranges .. oh.. I guess Not ? I bet that has NOT Helped the situation any . Should have left the Shoreline alone years ago . 🤠🤙

This story is about the coastline. Inland development doesn't cause the sea to carry away sand and silt, the ocean does.
Don't bother replying with an, "it's the roots of the palms" type argument bs. It's the sea that dictates coastal areas, not golf courses. That's just topsoil.
      The ocean breaths salty.

@Jeff Johnson wouldn't that be nice. How do you figure with massive amounts garbage in oceans and waterways, having machines put gas and pollutants in the air 24/7 for the last century along with massive scale farming. All of these things which wouldn't have otherwise been there, you really think it has no effect on the natural processes of Earth? Ask your local farmer what the they think of soil quality over the last 50 years. Pay attention to the natural food you eat, do you not notice a drastic change in the quality? You act like youre "awake" by choosing to stay asleep

@@tomarsandbeyond_ farmers soil isn’t what it should be because God set it up that you let the land rest every 7 years. Instead they’ve depleted the nutrients from the soil. They do try to fertilize to compensate!

“Global warming and climate change “……..and massive development right by the ocean accelerating the natural life span of islands. Any geography class will teach you the lifespan of volcanic islands involves erosion and then eventually the island becomes an atoll.

I remember growing up and the beach was so far away from the shore and now it’s the same. Waikiki is where is see it the worst. It’s not until the hotels are falling in the water will they actually do anything about it because they have no choice.

It will be a 4 star resort soon , as the beach shot looking back at the pool shows the pool lower than current sea level it's just the walkway holding it back at this point.

The glaciers are receding every year and causing the oceans to rise. We all need to do our part to reverse this if we want Earth to last a million years if that's even possible.
