I guess this must of been what they were originally going to do (or perhaps even just a placeholder?), just a generic message for all of them. But then they decided to make it a bit more interesting and gave them all a cutscene and more interesting dialogue.
That's actually really interesting. I wonder if the line was used as a placeholder first before implementing the full cutscenes. Although it's kind of weird that the only one you can actually legitimately see in the game isn't voiced. Does Agent 9 voice that line in the remake?
uknownada (gonna copy my comment from Reddit so people here can see it too) Yeah, I'm like 99% certain they're there as placeholders too. Or, at the very least, perhaps earlier on in development they were gonna just greet the player and run into their portal instead of having an entire cutscene dedicated to them, but later on it was decided cutscenes would be a better option. I checked the remake and he doesn't voice that line at all. I guess it might still be in the game as an unused voice clip or something though (depending on whether they ripped all the text from the originals or if they just went by what they could actually find themselves when playing the game). If you try defeating the Sorceress first in Reignited you instead find that Moneybags is still outside the portal... even though he's also waiting on the bridge for you to attack him, hahaha. After I defeated him Agent 9's portal was opened but he wasn't standing outside or anything, so I totally missed his cutscene. As I understand, in the originals all Moneybags encounters are automatically removed as soon as the Sorceress is defeated, whereas in Reignited they're removed after you meet him on the bridge.
@@Hwd405 Yeah, it's weird, considering that in levels where Moneybags appears in multiple locations (think Spyro 2 home worlds), the levels are designed in such a way that you can never see him in two places at once, at least not without going out of bounds. But if you defeat the Sorceress without freeing Agent 9 (which itself shouldn't be possible as a matter of logic, since he's scripted to help you in the fight), Moneybags is still visible outside Agent 9's portal and on the bridge at the same time. Sort of a design flaw on top of another design flaw.
The first time I decided to glitch my way through in a Skip All Moneybags playthrough, I landed in Sunrise Spring after the Sorceress, and the screen went black so it could send me into the cutscene, just like you said. Scared the crap out of me the first time it happened, haha.
For some reason I always thought that the red thing in Bentley's sign was a scarf, watching this video now I realized how I'm supposed to look at his face and it's actually his open mouth.
Amazing how stuff like this is still being found after all those years.
Here we are :))
That's so neat. I love learning new things about my favorite Spyro game.
Bentley's like screw you guys I'm goin home

I remember seeing pictures of shiela outside her cage but never seen the others!
Wow... very shocking how this was just discovered after all this time!

"Come visit me in my homeworld" *points gun at you*
Guess we don't have a choice
1:58: Bentley: I'm outta here
Moneybags: Oh... Ok...
nice find!
I knew about the Agent 9 one because I used to do that.
I happened to find Agent 9 in the first "scene" a lot of times. Its not unused. ^^
Yeah it’s provided here as context for the other dialogue lines which _are_ unused
