This shoe helped me progress so much! This was the first time I put on a shoe and felt like I was in the year 2099. Also I find people wearing plated shoes with massive soles eating six gels on there 3.5 mile runs becoming more and more popular. 😂
I remember when the rumors about the streakfly and takumi sen 8 were first coming out. Then they were released and it seemed to me that a large number of people stopped caring when we found out there is no carbon plate. I’m still excited about both, at least for fast training
@@EDDBUD more or less exactly my impression after a couple of sessions. Not wildly impressed with the shoe tho. I was hoping for something closer to the turbo.
For me, these are a modern Peg Turbo 2. Easy runs, tempo runs, light dry trail runs, treadmill runs. Great grip, great comfort, for anything up to 21.1k, they were everything I was hoping for and all for £135 …Love em ❤️🔥
I guess I'm one of those smaller runners with wide feet that fall into the use case for this shoe - I really love the more forgiving fit of the upper. The protection underfoot is noticeably less so than higher stack height racers and max cushion shoes, but for me it's a great fast day workout shoe up to around 10 miles
All hail The SteakFry! My favorite light trainer and even works in slush and snow. But wouldn’t race in it! It’s like a NB Rebel v.2 except that the Rebel is a squishy mess after 10 miles, whereas the SteakFry sizzles with structure. Takumi Sen 8? The racing option for shorter distances that the Nike purports to be!
This shows the value of a longer term review. I was going to get a pair for faster training sessions. Glad I missed the drops. I think I will get a NB TC instead, they are in the sale for 110 earth credits.
I agree with these being good for track intervals. I used them on the treadmill the other day for a 70 minute run that included 4 x 10 mins at threshold pace and that little fringe on the heel counter chewed up my Achilles and left me with nasty bleeding cuts on both feet and I had thick calf high socks on! It was almost 11 miles and i started notices the pain at about mile 4 or 5. Not fun and I can’t get to the paces I can in the vaporfly. These certainly fell flat for me. I’d give them a 6.8/10
Edd nice review, you have run a 100 miles further than most people who would like to try this shoe as we can't buy one ! What is this world coming too when people review shoes months in advance of general release
Thank you for the review! Was looking to get these. Always felt great running in flatter shoes like these. Had a pair of neon green NIke Zoomx shoes a few years back and they felt great even for shorter runs like 3-6 miles imo
I like your 90s music ed. you have great videos. great style you have too. the earth credits things, all really good. you should be proud of the channel and you as the star! god bless!
One thing I’ll give credit to is Nike honoring their 60 day try on but also the 2year warranty. I actually just sent back a Nike by You Peg 37 cuz holes were developing down inside the heel counter/padding(which I didn’t use them for running). They gave me a refund. I ordered those almost 2yrs ago.
I just got the streakfly. I really like it. I think like you say in the video, if you're a fan of old school racing flats, there's a good chance you'll like this shoe imo. It has the weight and flexibility of a racing flat, but with comparatively a lot of cushioning (but a bit less stability however). It's my first time running in zoom x, and I'm really impressed by the energy return. My only issue is that the exposed zoom x gets torn apart very quickly if you run on any terrain rougher than road. After just a single 10k there was a small chunk torn out of the exposed zoom x. The rubber gives good grip though.
Streakfly and SC Racer were two most anticipated shoes of 2022, I reckon the plate and FuelCell might make the SC Racer take not just top points but even top Takumi Sen 8 as best 5-10k racer for the masses.
Talking of JVC I've been listening to some Ray Parlour stories on TH-cam. The best is a 2 minute short about how he used to play for his brothers 5-a-side team whilst he was an apprentice at Arsenal.
I ran it at our local Streakfly launch event, and after 1 minute knew it wasn't for me. Floaty feeling left me wanting more for stability and support. Sticking with the Vaporfly 2, and just got a pair of Takumi Sen 8 in today that I am eager to try!
From the 1st reviews I suspected it would not hold up as a longer run shoe..I've learned over the years that if it's less than 28mm in the forefoot it's gonna go flat quickly..might be good 5k shoe for many people..everything changes with most shoes once you get past 10k..as of now the alphafly, adios pro, acics sky and skechers razor 3 versions are about the only shoes that can go the distance..probably cos there is so much forefoot cushioning that it doesn't go flat..still believe skechers razor has the perfect durometer foam for me..the uppers aren't the best tho..put the old adios pro upper on skechers razor excess+ midsole and have a true marathon shoe..I always look forward to you and Andy videos..nice to hear and review running shoes/gear/kit without the social BS..thanks for what you guys do..
Out of the box, the upper is kinda loose fit for me already. I have to wear the thickest socks and cinch the laces. You nailed it about the upper. Im thinking of pull out the glued insole, and replace it with more cushioned insole for a better fit...
Just ordered a pair of Streakfly. Looking forward to something with a little bit less cushioning as have used Endorphin Speeds only for the last 2+ years. With regards to performance, I picked up all my PB's between 2015-2017 well before super shoes were around. Trainers back then were just trainers and they worked. Old favourites of mine were Adidas Boston 5's and New Balance Zante 👌🏻

@@TheCineroo I never said it wasn’t. But like I said I don’t tend to buy absolute trash and then tear it apart. What’s the point in that and who benefits from it? I review shoes I feel will be decent purchases or avoid them at all costs.
Streakfly shoes are terrible. Yes, they are VERY light. However, they absolutely no rebound or energy return like the Vaporfly and Alphafly shoes do. My feet and knees hurt after racing 5ks in them because they don’t have the cushion of the other shoes. Don’t bother with these shoes at all.
@@EDDBUD but that isn’t what the shoe was advertised for. They said it is specifically a 5k through 10k shoe. Maybe it would be a good 1500 meter shoe but I would think the Dragonfly would best it for the track and who races the 1.5k on the road? The issue is that it just doesn’t provide energy return like the other shoes. That is a HUGE disadvantage. I am willing to bet that no records are EVER set with the Streakfly shoes. That is the ultimate judge of how good the shoe is.
The shoe is great. I would love it if it wasn’t for the durability… the glue on all front sides came off and created little cravices, but so far it doesn’t feel like it affects the run, but it just looks like a cheap glued shoe and fears of it being fully destroyed are there. For this sh*t durability, this shoe is wayyyy tooo overpriced. Durability like north american thin overpriced toilet paper… it has tons of potential if it wasn’t for the glue/durability.

@@TheCineroo I never said it wasn’t. But like I said I don’t tend to buy absolute trash and then tear it apart. What’s the point in that and who benefits from it? I review shoes I feel will be decent purchases or avoid them at all costs.
Streakfly v Takumi 8 please??
Sen 8 all the way. More robust and usable.
You should try an ultra
I still think that the Rebel v2 can do anything asked of the Streakfly. But that's just me. 🤷
Yes rebel 2 probably the better shoe for me about now.
The use of the word “bulbous” in this vid had me giggling like a schoolboy
I bought 2 pair and kept the half size down.
I can see your thinking there Scott. 👍🏼
streakfly or streak 7?
Streak 7 is more versatile for distance. For shorter bursts the streakfly is fun
Nice 1! I tested and sent back. Not for me. :)
It feels a touch like had an invincible run. Though half the weight too.
The three stripe brand kills with consistent race feel uppers, this upper is a sloppy mess. Disappointed. Nike hype machine failure, me thinks.
I think it’s a little subjective. Some very light runners doing shorter distances are clearly the scenario here.
@@LearningFast it seems like a good idea. But the shoe is somewhat flawed.
Hi
Gold! 👍🏼🥇
Lol
The shoe is great. I would love it if it wasn’t for the durability… the glue on all front sides came off and created little cravices, but so far it doesn’t feel like it affects the run, but it just looks like a cheap glued shoe and fears of it being fully destroyed are there. For this sh*t durability, this shoe is wayyyy tooo overpriced. Durability like north american thin overpriced toilet paper… it has tons of potential if it wasn’t for the glue/durability.
The outsole was a little too soft for me.
