Materials Required
1 skein/ball of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Color: Linen (medium worsted weight yarn category 4)
1 skein/ball of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Color: Cafe Latte (medium worsted weight yarn category 4)
4.5mm Crochet Hook (For edge)
5.0mm Crochet Hook (For crown and sides)

Sizing
For Ladies Adult Size use hooks as stated above.
For Child's size use 4.5mm hook for crown and sides, 4.0mm hook for edge.
Stitches & Terms
This pattern is using U.S. stitches & terms.
ch = chain
ch-1 = 1 chain stitch previously made
ch-3 = 3 chain stitches previously made at start of round
dc = double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
st/s = stitch/es
Crown (top of beanie)
Notes: ch 3 = 1 dc st
With main color (linen) yarn and 5.0mm hook - ch 6, sl st into 1st ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 3, (working over yarn tail) 11 dc into ring, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (12 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 3, 1 dc into same sp as join, 2 dc into each st around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (24 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 3, 2 dc into next st, * 1 dc into next st, 2 dc into next st, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (36 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 3, 1 dc into next st, 2 dc into next st, * 1 dc into each of next 2 sts, 2 dc into next st, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (48 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 3, 1 dc into each of next 2 sts, 2 dc into next st, * 1 dc into each of next 3 sts, 2 dc into next st, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (60 sts)
Rnd 6: ch 3, 1 dc into each of next 3 st, 2 dc into next st, * 1 dc into each of next 4 sts, 2 dc into next st, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (72 sts)
Sides of beanie
Rnd 7: ch 3, (1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) into same sp as join, sk 3 sts, * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) into next st, sk 3 sts, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join.
Rnd 8: sl st into next dc and into next ch-1 sp, ch 3, (1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) into ch-1 sp, sk 4 sts, * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) into ch-1 sp, sk 4 sts, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join.
For Following Rnds: Rep Rnd 8 as many times to get the length you desire. For the beanie pictured above and which is for the average ladie's sized head, I repeated Round 8 (5 more times).
Finish off.
Edge
With contrast (cafe latte) yarn and 4.5mm hook - sl st into the the same st where you last finished off.
Rnd 1: ch 1, 1 sc into each st and ch-1 sp around to the end, sl st into 1st sc to join.
Rnd 2: ch 1, 1 sc into same sp as join, 1 sc into each st around to the end, sl st into 1st sc to join.
Rnds 3 - 4: Rep Rnd 2.
Finish off. Weave in yarn tails with a yarn needle.
Optional - Add any embellishments like a flower, ribbon or button to your beanie to personalize it like I have.
