    I live in Greenville and prefer the local restaurants in Spartanburg. I have a lot of friends there and am always made to feel at home. To me, Greenville , Spartanburg , and Anderson are all a single place.

    Been living in SC and was born and raised in SC . Spartanburg is not as bad as people claim. I never been shot or in a fight ..no one has ever broke in my house or car. Its like other places if you move to a side of a city ruled by violence you are likely to end up in it and all of Spartanburg isnt like that . I love the food the people in South Carolina are so very nice and different i stayed in Atlanta Mississippi Texas north Carolina and Florida and SC is the top with nice people hospitality and i feel at home every time i come back

    The population figure of 39,000 for Spartanburg is misleading due to SC’ s restrictive annexation laws. The metro area probably has a population of at least twice that. Spartanburg County has a population of around 337,000. There are 7 schools districts in Spartanburg County; Spartanburg High School is located in District 7. Other parks to check out are Hatcher Garden and Glendale Shoals. Spartanburg has 7 colleges and is where the first college football game in SC was played. Another large festival held in downtown Spartanburg is the Dickens of a Christmas in early December. Spartanburg is also the headquarters of the National Beta Club. Spartanburg’s other nickname is Sparkle City, which was derived from a 1950’s rock group from the area who achieved national fame called the Sparkletones.

      The US census bureau actually has the metro area at about 196,000.

      I was born and raised in the city of Spartanburg, have lived here for most of my life, have delivered meals on wheels in some of the roughest areas and have never had a problem. According to the city police annual crime report for 2022, posted on TH-cam, the city’s crime rate is declining. The city has taken a number of steps to address crime.

      Crime information for SC counties can found in the state crime report on the SLED website. There is a breakdown of crime rates for specific types of crime by county as well as statewide trends. This information should be more accurate and up to date than internet sites such as Neighborhood Scout.

    How safe is Spartanburg to live?

    • @orgrichard
      @orgrichard ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a native and long time resident of Spartanburg, I would say, generally speaking, quite safe. Like all cities , Spartanburg has certain areas that are best to avoid at night. The city is developing transformation plans for those areas. The city’s annual crime report for 2022 is posted on TH-cam.

    Question. I am here cuz I drive thru this town and saw a huge confederate flag flying. Maybe it was outside the city? But that’s I looked up this video to see if u mention anything of it.

    • @orgrichard
      @orgrichard ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Confederate flag along I-85 was erected by a private organization, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, on private property in an unincorporated area of Spartanburg County. This organization has erected large Confederate flags in other areas as well in Georgia and NC. Some county officials have expressed concern that the flag sends an unwelcome message to part of the population and will hurt the county economically. The flag was ordered removed based on a zoning violation but this is presently under appeal. Spartanburg is actually the only city in SC that belongs to GARE, Government Alliance for Racial Equity.

      @@alexmercer936Although I'm not a fan of the CF, I agree with you 100% . When you take away history, you actually make the same mistakes over! And people are so afraid of things, like flags, statues. Anyone has a right to like or not like it, but its not going to reach out to hit anyone lol....there are always going to be things that 'offend' people. Like I was a vegan for 15 years and meat 'offended' me. But I had friends who were enjoyed their meat and I never said nothing and certainly didn't insist they go vegan, like today's vegans do! It was not my business! There will always be stuff to 'offend' someone and it could be anything. You just have to learn to let it go....or it will drive them all crazy and finding up new things to be offended over 🤔😐
