Was thinking of getting this for my 19 year old son who is a beginner but think I'll just go Goosky S1.

Heli's are just a lot cooler than quads IMO. I've been messing with FPV quads for a couple of years. Now, I'm trying to get into heli's. Just bought a OMPHobby M1 from Helidirect. Just wish there was a heli FPV community but heli vibrations are so bad it can't compare to the stability of quads. The opensource FW for helis isn't that big either. There is Rotorflight but the community is small. They have released several versions of it but I don't think it supports altitude sensors or GPS yet.

Yes they are! A lot cooler! This little Heli can take a FPV camera but yes, the feed is not as smooth as quads. But I know the cameras are getting much better so maybe soon!

Seems like a good implementation of a gps heli. I can tell from Jeff's voice he's not liking the autopilot stuff one bit. But hey, product has to sell😅. Great presentation Jeff, nice amount of detail.

I personally don’t like Autopilot. But! I think it’s good for people who flys quads or drone and want to get into helis or kids that want to learn. My daughter can fly it in auto pilot. I’m all for anything that gets people into the hobby but if you want to be serious and learn then autopilot is definitely not the best way to do it.

Jeff very nice video, in manual mode is GPS completely disabled?
If so then its like flying my goosky s2, FW 200 in manual,no gps, or my FW v3 in manual, correct??
    Thank you.

Thank you! Yes, I’m manual mode the GPS is completely disabled. It flys like any other Heli only real difference is the spring center throttle/collective. It can do full 3D as well in manual mode.

Seems like a nice heli for someone new to the hobby. It's also seems like a soild built heli as well. Perfect for someone new. However I can see how this could become a handicap for a new pilot and make them reliant on all the aids this heli provides, instead of making them master the actual skill required to fly a heli. But if used properly, I could see it being a great tool to help you master the basics.

It can definitely help and hurt at the same time. This type of Heli is more towards the drone guys who want to fly helis but want them to fly like a Drone. I think it’s great for kids and beginners as well. It could definitely teach some bad habits but also get guys into the Heli world.
