Yes, very important.I feel greatly for everyone over there in China right now.Makes me sad that other people blame the people VS the government over there who should wear most of the blame for not doing enough early on.Virtual hugs for any person in China who happens to read this, we are thinking of you.

That's a stupid thing to say as well.
      It's not the government's fault.
Any nation who is introduced with a random unknown virus will have pretty much the same outcome whether it be China, UK, USA, Germany or whatever.
No government agency or health agency for that matter can immediately identify if a new viral strain has spread. Add the fact that transportation has developed quite far with people being able to cross multiple countries within a day.
So blaming the government (the Chinese government in this case) is not only misinformed but also stupid.
No one can prepare or event act accordingly when disasters strike or if a new virus emergencies.
What people and the government can do is work hand in hand to help prevent it to spread even further and help in managing the situation.

What you say makes sense to me but isn't it different if you hear about a specific tragedy?
I mean, when I see the videos of grieving people and desperation and fear I feel.....a great deal of sympathy?
I still carry with me sorrow for things I've seen or been aware of in detail because it is a type of association, maybe.
But if I hear a crash killed 4 or a plane crashed and killed 100 or diseases and natural disasters or famine is killing people all over the world I don't feel the same. I'm not sure if it's because there is no emotion to mimic from a face or voice or details of specific people are not stated and you are hearing news people talking about them without emotion sort of blocks the greater feeling of sadness.
I often feels pangs of sadness and an ache that lingers when I am reminded of things that effected me so.
Some people have a more diverse and sensitive sense of sympathetic emotion.
Those are the people that feel compelled to help, even if danger is still present.
Some just imagine themselves in the situation and feel sorry for themselves for what might have happened to their loved ones.
Not to argue but some of us are more sensitive even if that means the are susceptible to the weakness that such debilitating feelings can cause.

He was right about Dec being the first outbreak "On December 8, 2019, a patient in Wuhan city reportedly complained of pneumonia-like symptoms and sought medical help at a local hospital. Within days, many others reported similar problems, prompting health officials to launch an investigation.
On December 31, China informed the WHO's country office about these pneumonia cases emanating from "unknown causes" in Wuhan.
Taking note of the matter and the limited information available, the WHO issued interim guidelines for all countries.
On January 7, Chinese authorities said they have identified 2019-nCoV as the cause of the pneumonia. However, experts are yet to identify the source of 2019-nCoV i.e. the animal from which it transmitted to humans."

I live in the Wenzhou area of Zhejiang Province, China. I am of the opinion that you are spot on in regards to the numbers regarding virus cases. As of this writing, there are 829 confirmed cases in Zhejiang . However, yesterday we received a report after the city was locked down that there 1037 suspected cases in one suburb of Wenzhou alone. In my city, there were 298. The (partial) report that we were given yesterday has 6,613 suspected cases in our immediate area. This number does not include Wenzhou city itself, nor other cities and suburbs within Zhejiang Province.

The mortality rate on this is much higher, at minimum 2% but likely much higher as the severe part is in the later stages of the illness.
This also spreads much easier with no symptoms, meaning if we don't make a vaccine and/or contain it, it will kill far far more than the flu.

Ow Lord Jesus help anybody flying with Qantas and all Australians. First it's the bushfires now the Whu Flu. Qantas Australia's 14 crew member who flew Australian Citizens out of Wuhan this past Monday, will NOT be put on a 14day quarentine. The flight crew are just given gloves and masks. Their concerns was dismissed by the health minister. Although crews expressed their concerns. So after their mission in bringing people from Wuhan back to Australia (and Christmas Island) they will return back to their normal shift hours, whether it's as a crew for around the world trips, back to their families and the Australian public. Our government needs Dr Campbell right here to knock some wisdom into their heads.

I watched videos from Wuhan and with no transportation, only those with cars can go to a hospital; that is a small percentage because most take public transportation. When they get there, depending on location, it can be so crowded they are turned away. They have to go to 3-5 hospitals before they get seen. Those who are suspected are tested and sent home awaiting their results. The results take 3 days or longer. After the diagnosis is confirmed, they must return to the hospital to obtain a Diagnosis Certificate. They only give out a limited number of certificates per day. Many people are not given certificates even though they have a positive diagnosis. Many people give up and return home never to return to the hospital after several attempts to get the certificate. Without the certificate, they cannot get ANY care. Those who get the Golden Ticket (certificate), must now go to a DIFFERENT hospital to seek care. Many are overcrowded and, even with the certificate, many patients are turned away and must seek out a hospital that has an open bed. Those who went to all the hospitals, saw vans being loaded with body bags and were told by staff that the bodies go straight to the crematorium often before even documenting who it is because of all the chaos.
THEREFORE, the numbers could NOT be accurate.

I want to comment on the Chinese reporting of patients. First, my family is ever SO GRATEFUL to the Chinese. However, when I visited in 2015 Dec (just prior to the one-child law being changed to 2) I asked the tour guide (college-educated, communist & young) what happens to the "spare baby" if a woman has a second child. He/She hesitated for some time but told me privately that the second child is not ever recognized, not registered, not allowed school, not allowed medical care. The mother is not punished but the child goes unrecognized. With this information, I wonder how many "unreported" people are simply not seeking help & not being tabulated. Chinese people are amazing, hard workers & would flourish with more freedom.

The Chinese were so desperate for food, they would start eating the feathers in their pillows(if they had any). That’s how cruel they were treated. That’s why in modern day China, being overweight is considered good luck. Also, it doesn’t help that Mao and his govt. promoted stupidity over intelligence and distrust over their fellow human. If you’re Chinese and you’re in need of help, no one will come and help you. • @Zidana123
      @Zidana123 4 ปีที่แล้ว

"Question, how do labs test for nCoV?" As far as I know the only available test at present is rt-PCR, which must be conducted using a dedicated machine in a lab setting. It CANNOT be done on the spot, nor is there a kit for it. People talk about 'test kits' but this is purely anecdotal.
There is a bottleneck effect in the testing because the samples taken from patients must physically be sent to the labs, and there is a limit in both equipment and technicians. Which means even with no malfeasance (and there probably is, considering the nature of the CCP), there's going to be an information gap between the number of actual cases and confirmed cases. And the size of this gap is unknown and unknowable.
