    As a former AIT Instructor (25U), if you fail the same test twice, you will be classed back to the next available class to try again. After your 3rd total fail, you will be counseled and placed on mandatory academic assistance for 2hrs every weekday until you graduate. If you have a total of 5 failures, you will be dismissed from the course. You will then meet the Course Chief and Battalion Commander to plead your case which the soldier hardly wins because assistance was provided to you and the soldier did not take advantage of it. If National Guard/Reserve, most likely you are discharged out of the Army. If Active Duty, you may be reclassed to a new MOS at the needs of the Army or discharged. Chapters can take months to complete, so the best way to get out of AIT is to complete the damn course and pass the PT test.

      QUESTION: IF ANYONE GET DISCHARGE IN THE MILITARY DOES IT RUIN YOUR RESUME AS A CIVILIAN IN REAL LIKE IF APPLYING OR GOING TO COLLEGE IF THAT MAKE SENSE?

    • @lanceheaps581
      @lanceheaps581 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      NIKE SB not the discharge you would get for that. I believe it would be a general discharge. A dishonorable discharge is horrible, but that requires getting court martialed and is very uncommon. I worked retirements and separations as a 36A and only ever saw three dishonorable discharges among thousands of retirements and discharges.

    So right. PT Test is no joke in AIT. I failed 2 times. And got chaptered after finishing all my coursework. I was a holdover for several months then they decided to discharge me. Do extra pt if you struggle. Stay away from junk food. And just because you passed basic you still have to work on yourself.

      I enlisted while I was in high school. Young and dumb and didn't take it seriously. Failed run by 30 seconds. Got honorably discharged tho. Give u an idea I went to basic running a 20 minute two mile. Got it done in basic to pass, but couldn't get over the hump for AIT. Will bee re enlisting ending this year. However not even gonna talk to a recruiter till I'm I'm running a low 14 minute two mile. Pushups and situps never where a problem always scored 90% tile or higher.

I was an 52D power generation mechanic. I picked this MOS because I'm very mechanically inclined. So this why it was so easy the pass AIT for me. The instructors where impressed with how well I move with an shoulder that was injured.

    The hatred for one of the people in my class was the reason I passed my final PT test.
    He was 32 year old E-3 who acted like a know it all - real smug, thought he was better than everyone else, etc. No one in the class liked him.
    I was on the last 1/4tth mile of my run, walking and clutching my stomach while gasping when suddenly he sprinted passed me.
    I was like 'F*ck that, I'm not letting him get ahead of me!' and pushed myself to get passed him and because of that I finished the run with seconds to spare.

    in many cases you are simply reclassified as a combat infantry 11B (Army) or 311 (Marine Corps) and have to go to combat school AIT at Fort Benning or the Marine Combat School at Camp Pendleton; this is especially common in the Marine Corps if you flunk out of your school there though I am not sure how common this is in the Army. This is especially true if you are flunking out simply due to academic underperformance as the combat school has only a few "classroom" tests, and mostly you just shoot guns and train to be a traditional soldier and has the least demanding academic requirements to pass.

    So I became a split option and I've been at home for a little over a year after I finished bct. I'm getting ready to ship out for ait finally (in January) out at Ft Lee. My question is this... how has the ACFT been in ait? During basic, because I went in while covid was still a pretty big deal and the ACFT was still going through the works, we were not required to pass any of the pt tests... but that was last year. Do you know how it has changed not that I am heading to ait in a month? I have a degree in the mos I chose so I am not worried about that, but because I am not coming right out of bct while the ACFT wasn't a required pass... I'm a bit nervous!

    So for 68X school, you can only fail 3 tests. Now in the event of a failure, you'll go before a board, typically made up of instructors that will determine if they'll allow you to continue, recycle you to a different class to start at the last block of instruction to retry, or reclass. a few people from my class were reclassed to helicopter mechanics and one was recycled and passed. So it just varies between MOS. Our MOS is low density so they will give you chances if they feel you can do it.

    Because I failed AIT Training I received an honorable discharge, and due to the low ASVAB Test Score that I have, the National Guard told me that when I decide to reenlist, I have to restart all the way from basic training and then do AIT training, which is something I DEFINITELY do not feel like going through again. I’ve already been certified as a Soldier in the United States Army. Why not just restart me from AIT training? I’m going to call the National Guard again next month about the situation, and if they tell me the same thing again, I’m doing Army ROTC. I do not feel like going through this whole entire training process from the very beginning again.

      I just do push ups. And sit ups. Those are my best. A workout I do for push ups I do is pyramids. Do 1 push up all the way to 15 and 15 all the way down back to 1. This will give you 240 push ups. Try to rests only a few times.
      Sit ups I just do 100 sit ups, followed by leg flutters and a plank 3-5 min.
      Running is my issue. I can get it under 15:54, I want to get it down to 14:20-30. I been doing more 60:120. Sprint or fast pace jog for 60 seconds and walk for 120 seconds. Add in hills as well. Sprint up and walk down 20 times. Also I go for a 3-4 mile run. I don't worry about my time it is usually about 35-37 min for 4 mile. But you should try to go without stopping and if you want run hills with it. This is what I have been doing and I hope it helps.

    • @joshuabailey8090

      Soldier Guy007 to do running just go to a track and Sprint 100 meters, walk 100 meters, Sprint 200, walk 200, Sprint 300, walk 300, Sprint 400, walk 400, then start going back down to 100, do this around 5 times per day and you should be able build up alot alot of endurance and speed helping you with the run (and I'm also a runner so I can confirm)

    For my AIT 35M Human Intelligence Collector you had one shot at retaking any test and if you failed you were at the mercy of the Battalion Commander. Six of us failed five months into the six months AIT. Four us were recommended for a day 0 restart, 1 for reclass and 1 for chapter. Despite being recommended for recycle, I chose reclass and was sent to 25B AIT where I just graduated. The time in between training while waiting for a new class sucks because you are a holdover doing details all day.

    Back in 82' we heard stories about if you fail you would be put into Infantry. Who knows if it was true or not. When i was ending my first enlistment i wasn't sure if i was staying in or not. My in service recruiter suggested for me to take a months worth of afternoon( while on duty) remedial courses in math and so on and retake the GT test to raise my score and to open up more MOS options if i so choice to have a new job. I did raise my score but i reenlisted with my same MOS. I think in the back of my mind was fear of failure at AIT. In my case i had somewhat simple MOS (36k Tac wire oper. specialist) then it was changed to 31k Combat signaler. Who knows what it is now. Bottom line is within 2 years of finishing AIT all or most of the crap i learned was obsolete so every time i pcsed to a new unit i basically was learning new equipment and procedures on the fly which pissed me off because you never achieved a comfort level while performing your MOS if you know what i mean. By the way (Matt Ward)great job on your utube videos. I'm always curious about today's military.

    This was all In one consecutive contract of which I’m still on. I failed two basic trainings. The first one I got injured with 17 days left so after Christmas break I got held back to Charlie company. Then in that basic training I could pass my test test so then I got sent to that pt school to pass basic training. I passed the first day I got there. Then I passed AIT in my third AIT. I failed 88 mike, couldn’t even pass the first test, very hard, only soldier to flunk, then failed 92 foxtrot AIT, failed second test after passing the first test by minimally passing, also very hard. I just partied in AIT and went out every weekend so then I finally passed my third AIT as a 92 golf because I obviously wanted to go to my duty station. When I passed that AIT I was a holdover for a month and then finally got to my dusty station after a year and two months in training. And also I got to choose one out of prolly 10 mos’s after I failed 88 mile AIT prolly only because 88 mike AIT is one of the easiest so they knew I might as well pick one if I failed the easiest. I ended up earning the army achievement medal and army good conduct medal and got honorably discharged for active duty and have 7 months left in the irr of my 8 year obligation.

    Hey Matt. I have a quick couple of questions. I keep hearing if you fail your AIT you get a new MOS and like you said get reclassified as something else, but what if you go in as a 18X? Since 18X contracts go through infantry OSUT to become SF, would you be out as a 11B or 11C when failing selection in SF?

I have a 274 on my pt test here and a 86 in class as a 15T. Since I wasn't struggling in class or failing my pt test, would I be able to switch my MOS? I qualified for 88k as well which is also on the same base at the same school house but I don't if id sill be at the needs of the army which I shouldn't be since I didn't fail my AIT courses.

    You probably won’t be able to answer this or even see it but one of my friends in the army who’s still in AIT got arrested around October for assault and got red flagged and phased down but is still going to class and doing everything the same but his 1sgt told him he wouldn’t be getting his orders because there would be an investigation and he’d have to stay there longer than he’s supposed to. But just a few days ago he got his orders to go to Korea but he’s still red flagged so he’s wondering if they stopped the investigation or are they going to keep him there or what hopefully you can answer this or get to see it.

    Depends on why the soldier failed. When i was in they would offer you a choice from a list of shortage MOSs. Obviously, if the failure was academic they probably wont reclassify you to an equally technical shortage MOS as the one you failed.

    One question (long read) so I'm just curious, so I signed up for the firefighter exam, and here's the thing, I'm not passionate about it, it's not something I want to do for a living. So I have 4 fines to pay (1 of them is huge, and the other 2 is kind of small, the last one is a surcharge), so I'm hoping to get everything paid off before the end of summer of 2019 (keep in mind I have $900 left on one ticket and one of them I have 400 left), so I'm basically training and studying for the firefighter whole firefighter process because It'll help me with the ASVAB, and help me a little bit with the physical training. So I take the exam on 12/08 and I'm guessing since they said that the firefighter exam would be in the fall but I got the letter in the mail saying it's on 12/08 i'm guessing the physical test would be in the summer (they said it would be in the spring). So if I get everything paid off before the end of summer, and I am suppose to ship out a week or 2 prior to being hired by the fire department, would they still hire me in the future, if I tell them I can't go to fire academy because my enlistment to date is xx/xx/xxxx? And another thing is, whatever military branch I join I want a combat mos

    • @adamkhan3279
      @adamkhan3279 6 ปีที่แล้ว
