Thank you for using the opening music. It conveys the journey LaMotta has faced. His ups and downs. It's a shame that Michael Chapman, the cinematographer of this film and Taxi Driver didn't win an Oscar is what still baffles me.
It’s genuinely quite hard to believe that his story is completely true. His life was truly a tragic one. He was a pretty tortured soul and made a lot of horrible mistakes in his life but he still remains one of the greatest boxers in history.
What I respect him for though, is the fact that he was so honest about his life and that he had the bravery to write his book exposing himself to the whole world, not many people would do that, especially if they behaved the way he did.
@@positional_play got a friend years ago who kept insisting that this movie was trash and that Rocky was way better. I'm not friend with that guy anymore
@@brucepayne3919 They are all great, but in terms of legacy and importance, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull stand out. I hate to say this since GoodFellas is my favorite film of all time and The Irishman is in my Top 10, but it's what it is.
1980 was amazing year for cinema, so many masterpieces, but above them all is Raging Bull. Perhaps Scorsese' best and very likely best leading performance of all time. Amazing video
I agree! 1980 was a phenomenal year for cinema. Raging Bull, The Shining, The Elephant Man, The Blues Brothers, Airplane!, Stir Crazy, The Long Good Friday, I could go on and on and on.
@@BCS1105 i would recommend you watch serbian classic film from 1980 - Who's singin' over there. I know its kinda random but i like to spread lesser known films to film lovers 😁
It really is such a beautiful film, even in all of its violence. There's something in the visual pattern of the film that makes me think of dreams, lost by the destructive nature of Jake's life. Truly magnificent.
"No soy tan malo" "No soy un animal" "No soy lo que dicen" No pude evitar emocionarme, soltar alguna lágrima cuando Jake fue llevado al calabozo en Florida. Verlo golpeandose así mismo, rompiéndose las manos, contra la muralla... fue estremecedor. En ese momento se dio cuenta que ya perdió todo... y que su verdadera lucha, era como todos ustedes dicen; Jake LaMotta vs Jake LaMotta.
He can try to live with himself by taking the same amount of punishment he gave to those close to him, but he can never fix the damage he has done to them.
Your videos on Scorcese are amazing. Yeah the films itself are masterpieces but you really do bring out the beauty of them. Thanks for the inspirations
Lol, it's almost 3 a.m here in Mexico. I love so much your work my buddy, I really admire what you do for all of us that share this passion for cinematography. Best wishes for you and this great channel. I'd like to see someday The Beauty of Pulp Fiction :)
Fantastic movie! The fight scenes in this movie are more dynamic and immersive than most action scenes in today's films. The way it's shot is just outstanding
Though my favorite scenes are the 1 vs 1 conversations between De Niro and Pesci, they are so dynamic and the two have such great chemistry, it's just terrific. I have never seen a better duo.
Not only does this channel make the BEST videos, the creator also favourites everyone’s comments, even after weeks. This is QUUUAAAAAAALITY content TH-cam, don’t lose this one!
Beautiful movie! This was my 4th favourite Scorsese film and my favourite Robert De Niro performance, Also I like to see you do The Beauty of Kundun (1997) Another Martin Scrorsese movie which was Film by Roger Deakins. 🙂
Such a brutal yet beautifully tragic film. Lovely shots, but I do think the colour montage scenes, rooftop wedding etc merit an inclusion, they were charming and well crafted.
Hands down my favorite Martin Scorsese movie really because of the dialogue hearing them speak it sounded more like a documentary like they weren't even acting
Awesome video for one of my favourite movies ever made. Wish the shot where Jake was pouring the champagne tower was here but nevertheless great stuff!
I just can't fathom how this movie didn't win an Oscar. Scorsese only won an Oscar for the departed, and nothing else. That's ridiculous, and the academy is messed up Also 1:31 almost got me
This movie is magnificent. This "Intermezzo" by Mascagni... It's one of my favorite films, and the best of Scorsese in my opinion. It reminds me a lot of "Rocco and His Brothers" by Visconti.
One of the Greatest Movies ever Made with a Great Soundtrack!! Thank you Director Martin Scorsese for doing this Film and for The Great Robert DeNiro for playing Jake LaMotta!! 😊😊👏👏👏👏👍👍

The Beauty Of True Detective

"No matter how hard you try, no matter how good you are, there will always be Martin Scorsese." - Brian De Palma

@MickeyMantle7 No, De Palma did.
Martin Scorsese is a Great Director and He knew what He was doing when making this Movie!!😀👏👏👏👍
@SheepOfChrist818 Tarantino said something like that about James Cameron, it's worth looking up.
Scorsese's movies aren't really that impressive
They're good movies, but it's not something untoppable
“You never got me down Ray”
“You never got me down”
Easily one of the greatest movies ever made.

Why? Explain.

Good thing the trailer for raging bull is somewhat like this video, which I love.

Jake LaMotta must be one of the most tragic figures in movie history. What a sad existence.

Casino, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull
The holy trio
Great video. 👍
Good afternoon. And maybe "The Age of Innocence". Best regards and good luck.
For me its : GoodFellas, Taxi Driver, and Raging Bull.
The Wolf of Wall Street
Mean streets
Please stop mentioning just all of his films. Scorsese's three best films are Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and GoodFellas, simple as that.
He can try to live with himself by taking the same amount of punishment he gave to those close to him, but he can never fix the damage he has done to them.
