  • NEW SWORD OF CONVALLARIA LAUNCH REVIEW: • Is Sword of Convallari...
    Final Fantasy tactics, Final Fantasy tactics advanced, Tactics ogre, Fire emblem, Advanced Wars, Disgaea, Pokemon Conquest and many more. These games absolutely shaped my love for the Tactical RPG genre and if you've seen any of my past videos, I also love playing games with that pixel art, SNES/PS1 and Retro-ish type of energy such as Octopath Traveller and Sea of Stars so when I saw Sword of Convallaria. I immediately got pulled into it.
    Sword of Convallaria is a Tactical Gacha RPG releasing on the PC, Android and iOS on July 31st, 2024. I know what you’re thinking, “a Gacha TRPG? What in the world is this nonsense” This actually surprised me at first, the game actually has a Free-to-play mode that doesn’t utilize the Gacha elements Sword of Convallaria implemented.

    I played the demo and it's really fun. I can't wait to dive into the game on the full release.
    The non-gacha branching story mode is basically a full game unto itself and you don't even have to pay for it. It's pretty amazing that we get to enjoy this beautifully made game totally for free :)

      Really looking forward to the full release. Can't wait to go deeper into the story and find out which endings go sideways and if we can fix those lol.
      I totally agree with the non-gacha part being it's own game. It deserves a 40USD or 50USD price tag tbh. Neopixel game go hard

    If they dropped the gacha, then the game wouldnt be free

      Totally understand and get your point however seeing the game's art and VFX plus the story which gives off that dark politcal vibe Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics has is worth at least 40 USD compared to paying for a battle pass which you might have to get monthly if you wanna spend money "lightly" in this game. I love the game and totally would love to support the devs if they decided to full on sell this instead of gacha but still a fun game nonetheless. :)

    The gacha element makes it an instant "nope" for me, but the endurance thing on top of that makes me wonder if the whole world has gone insane.

      I totally get you. I just wish they had a version of this similar to MegaMan X Dive. Have everything ready to play for a full price.

    What do you think of the game? SoC is just super good looking and IMHO, I'd play this casually without spending just for the story portion alone. Will you be trying this out?

    heard of it and thought i might give it a try..and now i learned it's gacha..and i will say nah. i have tried playing f2p but that pain and regret at not being able to pull from a nice banner when you haven't saved enough is not a feeling i like having.

    • @androidpaw
      @androidpaw  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I can agree. It kinda happened to me when I played genshin impact and star rail. Only upside here is its own free to play campaign which doesn't really need a 5* from the banner. If only this was its own game for maybe 35 or 40. It might've been a smash

      @@androidpaw i definitely would've paid for it even if it was at 50, tbh. i am a sucker for tactical games

      I totally feel you. Tactics are just really fun. Can't wait for the Final Fantasy Tactics remake whenever that happens.

    Oh no! They made a mobile game with... mobile game controls. What a concept

      🤣🤣🤣 Didn't really stop other games to optimize for pc or consoles tho. gotta hand it to XD anyways for making a good looking game.

    Final Fantasy Tactics with Radiant Historia story.

      Yo I can't believe I missed that. That's so true. It's kinda like how you play Ragnarok Tactics too except with Ragnarok tactics you have to play through everything all over again lol.

    2% gacha rate to me is basically 5%. I’m very lucky in gachas so I’ll be checking it out and trying my luck. Also I love pixel art games a lot. Grew up with the FF games.

      Well that's some good RNG you got there. Wishing you luck with the starting banner for Soc!

    The stamina/key system is the worst part for me. I want to give it a chance but I already suspect I might quickly get too frustrated due to those.
    For other modern F2P games, those systems only prevent you from accesing "side content" usually for grinding purposes, but at least you can take on as many main missions as you want, which doesn't seem to be the case for this one (unless I misunderstood something).

    • @androidpaw
      @androidpaw  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agree. The key and stamina kind of gatekeeps content and also slows down your progress. On launch I'm sure the keys are going to be hard to grind but the F2P section has tons of stuff to do. Stamina is a bitch to balance tbh. It's a weird restriction imposed on players who like to play their fave units.
      You can do a lot of missions in the F2P part. Once you reach the end of a scenario you need to have a key ready. I'm just hoping it's not grindy as all hell.

    • @hamptonbt
      @hamptonbt หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From what I’ve seen with many reviews the keys are easy to get and rarely needed. If you just want the story mode you can spend the game currency on more keys instead of pulling for characters. I think it’s worth playing even if it is a gatcha. I personally moved away from mobile gatcha games but I’m 100 percent giving this one a go.

      @@hamptonbt Yo! That's awesome. At least that saves the trouble of trynna farm them. I did see it was 100 in game currency but sometimes that urge for a lucky 1 pull does feel strong lol. Cant wait for the launch tho.

    can't wait to try this, the gacha is the only downside. I'm willing to pay to play this game and not be a gacha game, oh well if that makes the game with regular updates then i guess its fine

    • @androidpaw
      @androidpaw  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely agree that the gacha is the downside. Game is good enough to be its own standalone ttrg. F2P replayability alone on this game is gonna be wild when you want to correct some mistakes you make.

  • @sneezingwizard
    @sneezingwizard หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Greedy devs + nostalgia appeal giving me such a mixed feelings, not to mention after such a long await time they still botch on the translation. Might still try it for the story, but if its been gatekeep by the greedy gacha mechanics then I would probably rides the down-voting train.

    • @androidpaw

      I feel you. Well coming from the studio that also made a Gacha-ish version of Torchlight. SoC would've just been an awesome game on it's own without the Gacha but man, almost every good game has to be some sort of live service nowadays.
