I wish Michael was still working in mic’s, but happy I have 2 modded mk-319’s and a Hulk 990. The 990 is especially stunning. It’s somewhat ironic because I remember emailing back and forth with Mike way back in ‘06 when he was exclusively working with Oktava mics, hence the original “OktavaMod” name. I told him I needed to track down a 319 since that was the mic he recommended, but I decided to ask whether he was willing to mod an MXL 990 I had had for ages. He said no, but that he was willing to consider looking at the guts some time in the future. I’m glad he eventually did. Best mic in my locker bar none.
Hello Michael! I completely understand your calling to move on to another project that just might be helpful to humanity! Much Respect there. Spent a good amount of the 1990s trying to break through my mind's CHATTER. Non Stop! We spoke years ago about you modding my two NT2s. I dragged my feet and missed out. Since you don't do that anymore and neither does the gentleman you recommended on your MJE website, can you at least share which manufacturer's capsule you used for the impressive results you achieved. One of the K 47 Capsules I'm sure. Now which delivers the best results is the real question. I am capable of replacing my own as a bunch of us are! Thank you from all of us who miss your talents and have the ability to bridge the gap ourselves! And only once during the 90s did I get to a place past the noise in my head. A Robert Monroe guided meditation. Never got there again. All I can say to myself is..... SHUT UP! LOL Enjoy the journey!
Is anyone else picking up on this work? I have a 319 that I finally decided to have modded by a pro, but I just now found out Mike wasn't doing this anymore. Are there any pro shops left out there that will do this for me?

Mike Joley worked wonders on those microphones! I bought a couple more, just before he shut up shop! All the best Mike!

I have a modd'ed NT1A (U87 clone) and two CAD1200's (KM84 clones). I just hope they don't go out on me cause MJE doesn't do this anymore.
Thanks, Michael!
Great sounding acoustic!! Im researching these mics.
Impressive microphones and musicians. I believe the guitarist is actually the amazing Max Cohen, though, despite what the credits may say.
more relevant would be speech recordings. This is the most delicate with it's sibilants.
Was expecting at least a brief comparison in this video ... ?? :/
Who can do mic mods now?
