- @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage and his buddy Makay are repairing a fellow Hot Rodders, beautiful 1957 Chevy Convertible. Take a look at this one of a kind beauty, and hear the story of how Merlin and Gordy Abougoush, the owner, met.
the cup holder ... this man built his car his way and he did an amazing job ... hats off to a true craftsman
that paint job is breathtaking. The level of body work to get black to lay that perfectly is mindblowing. I absolutely LOVE the wheelbarrow engine tunnel and that he's driving it from Canada across the US instead of a garage or trailer queen! Thanks for sharing!!
Love the fact he drives it not just sitting in a garage somewhere 😊
Absolutely !! I mean really why put 1,000's of hours/dollars into something you never use ... I feel the same about show bikes -- some have a little bitty tank and are so uncomfortable you couldn't ride them to the store and back.
Beautiful car. Another great video. That car must be pure pleasure to drive
The only thing I hate about this car is that I don't have one like it. Absolutly beautiful.
My thoughts exactly ! Butt I didn't want to sound like a hater ! Lol just jeolous !
That is an absolute work of art!!! Absolutely stunning the amount of love sweet and tears went into this car. Love everything about it. thanks for sharing Merlin.🥰🥰
The thing I like about the car the most is he actually uses it. Too many of these cars that just sit and look pretty but never get used. When you're as good as Merlin you have buddies everywhere.
Thar is absolutely fabulous and those body panels are straight bloody love it and that extra panel under the bonnet 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Gotta love it. Old guys, big coats, old cars, pointing, bs-ing AND getting 'er done!
One of a kind 57 Chevy. I believe that is the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen.
I'm speechless at the way everything is fitted and integrated. It looks like it came from a factory like that.👌
That's the nicest Black mirror I've ever seen. What a work of art!
57 is absolutely beautiful! Better than new!!! Thanks for sharing Merlin!
That 57 is a thing of beauty. WOW
Richard, what a beautiful car you have, all the blood sweat and tears put into building your 57 Belair got you a show stopper! Only figures Merlin had a part in it! What an incredible car you have. Til next time, see you then. ✌️ 😊
I love everything about that sweet 57 !
That is one sweet ride!! He has done a remarkable job redesigning the old with new ideas. If someone in the late fifties built a " futuristic" model... this would be it!! The metalwork and paint look flawless.
MERLIN PUTS HIS HANDS ON IT, AND IT IS FIXED ! THE RIGHT WAY!!!! MAGIC!
The best thing I like about the ‘57 is… you guys and how those body lines stir your soul. 😉
Thats absolutely gorgeous! Thumbs up Canadian brother!
Beautiful 57, never seen one so nicely done
That is the most amazing paint. I have seen on any car.
Most beautiful car on the road. Totally awesome job now it has a touch of merlin and McKay
Thank you. Pretty tight friendship, this is what I see. As far as the car goes ,that is for sure a beautifully put together ride
Hey Merlin .... go to the dollar store and grab a pool noodle, slice it lengthwise top to bottom on one side and cut it to the desired length to fit over your floor jack handle. 2' to 3' is plenty long for length and you can make at least 2 sheaths to fit your jack. Never have to worry about the jack handle damaging your hotrod again 😊 I also use them on the enclosed trailer ramp door for the lift cables while at the track. So many people get caught up in those cables (children safety too)
Pool Noodles on a jack are a MUST!!!
Its been some years since i've seen it Gordie looks awesome!!, Travis.
Nothing to hate about a pristine beauty like this one. I will be watching for it rolling out on Canada 1.
I was also borne in 57 but never had the desire to own one, but many years ago helped a friend from high school start his restoration. I never did find out if he ever got it finished.
WOW! You weren't kidding. What a beauty. Very nice work & pretty cool you guys have got to know each other. I keep hearing about how great the car culture is in Havasu & it makes me wanna check it out.
I must say that is one of the nicest 57s I've ever seen. An I too was born in 57 an really like them. Very interesting 🤔 content, thanks 👍 for sharing.
Whats to hate about it?! That 57 is gorgeous! ❤
Very slick and smooth, straight and arrow just beautiful
That under hood shield is awesome it looks fantastic , hello from Canada 🇨🇦
You guys are killing me! No fender covers!! Beautiful car.
Thank you for your showing us a beautiful car
Beautiful car! Nice guy. Thanks, Merlin 👍🏼
Hey Merlin,
The attention to detail on that car is simply amazing.
The man knew what he wanted and made it happen.
So Cool.
Take Care
I don't see anything to hate on that car. It's amazing. My first car was a 56 two door post. It was ten years old when i bought it. My wife and i dated in that car.
I love the finish and fit of everything. This is truly a unique, one of a kind 57. And yes built with love and a vision. Definitely a car guy!
Very much a work of art. Well done!
Nice! Your choice of music while panning over the car is spot on! A real head turner and you can see the build quality.
Incredible build!
There is nothing to hate about a 57 Chevy especially that one to hate it's all love. Drove a buddy's black 57 convertible for years. White top with red interior only thing I regret about it is I didn't buy it when it came time for him to sell it.
Love how he used a old hood to cover the radiator. And your right it would look good with no hood as well
Very cool car I like the details in the touches he did
It's just a gorgeous machine I really do like what he did with the HUD
You guys are a bunch of kids, I was in HIgh SCHOOL in 57 & I have a daughter same age as Merlin, but still love your show, a lot of memories for me with these older cars and trucks. Thanks guys
you must be in your late 70's or 80's if you were in high school in 57. My parents were born in 54 so I am going off their age. you must of been a wartime baby born in the ealy 40's im guessing
...............I also, 1942. @@79tazman
I agree with you. I was also in high school in 57 and my kids are older than y'all. A 57 Chevy was also my dream car. The closest I ever got was a 56 Ford Fairline convertible
Damn you are old. I was only 5 when that car was new.
Super nice. My Dad also had a 57 Convertible but it was red and white great looking car
when you did the walk around with your camera, take a look back at the time you got to the passenger side front fender. the reflection in the paint from the roof lines on the building next door made the impression of a beautiful style stripe that would look great on another vehicle!
One Beautiful Car
There isn't anything to dislike about the 57 it is definitely smoken hot.
My first car was a 1957 Chevy Convertable. 283 ci, changed from auto to 4 on the Floor Hurst. Painted Honduras Maroon, white top with black and white tuck and rolled naugihide seats, It had The Avenger painted on the front fenders. I got the car in 1962. I graduated High School in 1965, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. I gave the car to my sister. I never saw it again. I retired from the Air Force in 1989, and there is NO WAY I could afford that car today, if it is still running. I lived in Michigan at the time. Today I am 76 and live in Florida. Richard Hutchings. That car is absolutely beautiful. Nice Job.
Wow, what a beautiful car. That has been my dream car for many years. Alot of time and money and thought has gone into that car. I wish I could sit next to the driver and just take a ride in it. What a genius was to cover up the radiator and ac condenser. Great job Merlin, great job to everyone helping him. Keep up the great work.
It all bad ass and so are you merlin bad ass love it
Tube Chassis, Irs what can you say does not get much better than that, and very tastefully done, I noticed the headlights right off. just the thought of what it would cost to build that now wow.
Such a lovely car, I really like 50's cars,
Perfection! I know you don't want to paint your 57, but man if you were going to do it.
I'm pretty picky on custom cars, but that '57 is very nice, and has some unique and personal touches that I like as well.
very clean ride . Thanks for sharing !
Awesome car love the 57 chevy content still have mine I’ve had since 1985 when I was a teenager passed though ur town a few weeks ago on a westward trip from Kentucky u live in an awesome place 👍👍👍👍👍
I love anything Chevys, but most of all I love your show Marilyn Marilyn’s garage is great 24:11
looks like a ragtop Chezoom. .. very nice. I miss the 57 dash.
Sweet ride, good friends.
Super enjoy the history of your love of 4 wheels and sharing that with all us.
Happy new year and blessings to you and yours.
That is an amazing 57 chevy
Top notch beautiful car
Beautiful resto.
Beaitiful car ! Admiring from NB Canada
Absolutely a beautiful car. Extremely well done.
Amazing detail and the best part is that its a driver not a trailer queen. I have a ton of respect for guys that will drive a rolling art piece!! Great vid Merlin. Wish you all the best in the 2024!!
Beautiful car. ❤
Good cup of coffee and old school garage and I have a great start to the day! Thanks Merlin.
Great video and cool car and happy new years to you and your family from GA and stay safe
I just woke up and thought, “I wonder if Merlin has a new video up yet?” Good way to start the day. Now if only I were in Arizona!
Absolutely gorgeous car. I always loved the 57 chevy. My Dad had 2 of them and my brother had one, I remember riding in my Dad's first one as a very young kid. I remember being disappointed when he traded the 57 off on a 66 Impala when I was 6 years old. Although the 66 rode smoother and drove on the highway a lot better with the V8 and automatic, compared to the 6 cyl. and 3 on the tree. I preferred the looks of the 57 better and always wanted one, but it never happened and impossible now days unless your rich or very, very lucky. Very nice car.
I’ve never seen 57 Chevy headlights frenched in like that before. As a matter of fact , never seen them frenched in at all. I think it was done masterfully and I can’t imagine any other way would look as good. Great looking car altogether. Looks like the windshield is chopped too. I’d love to see it with the top up. 😮
The only thing that someone could hate about this car, is the fact that it is not theirs!
I love the leather seats, wow!
Beautiful
Best looking fifty seven i've ever seen
Beautiful car
As others have said, I love the fact that it’s actually driven and not just sitting in a garage. That paint job is incredible. The custom interior may not be to everyone’s taste, but it looks very user friendly. A beautiful custom built car in every respect.
cool car build them with what you have, thumbs up, great video
The body of that car is almost unnaturally straight. That alone would take months to accomplish and possibly more than one good to great paint job just to get it that straight and smooth in increments. Well done indeed
The red interior is def the cats meow, but the whole thing is GORGEOUS!
Very nice !
It is a stunning car.
Very nice I love looks excellent ❤😎🇦🇺
Got my answer in a picture!!
The Question Is WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THAT CAR It's BEAUTIFUL
I love it!! I love it!! I love it!!
Always enjoy your videos Merlin. Thanks for another one.
Cool car, love everything about it, hate that it’s not mine, haha
What a beauty of a ride, the attention to detail is spot on.
Great Car!!! I had my 57 (definatly not as nice) for 18 years! During that time I had other cars (32'Ford Vicky, 67' Olds Convertible) which were nice So I got this "sick of working on my cars desise, Sold em all bought a new (23) C-8 I just love it! JUST LOVE IT!!!!!
VERY NICE
Great video. I love the Stray Cats vibe.
Super nice, I would drive it
Badass '57!
Merlin that has to be the nicest car I've seen you working on. So far.
Love the car! Amazing work to do the conversion to a convertible. The seats look great (corvette?).
