This video I wanted to use this song to help you work on fingerpicking.
Fingerpicking is a great way to switch a song up (especially for slow songs) and it will keep all your songs from sounding the same. (since i use the same 4 chords in most of my song instructionals)
    God luck and God bless!
    Matt

You're super talented, and are seriously the only person i can learn guitar things from! Much appreciated!

have you watched all my videos on strumming? i have a whole section on strumming on my main channel page. Check those out and see if it helps. Strumming can be tricky because it does change so much...as long as you're thinking about "what's the timing of this" you can get it.

Hey man. Thanks for the help. I play the keys but only about two or three months picked up the guitar. I'm trying to learn in order to teach youth at my church. There is a passion to learn for Christ and God has put me there to help. I'm preparing myself and passing on the wisdom. Thanks for the help. This song is one they like so I thought it'd be easier to learn. I also have a passion for worshipping God with music. And I love the guitar so keep me in your prayers so I can learn everything the lord wants to teach me. God bless you and have a blessed day. Maybe one day I'll be giving a tutorial on TH-cam. Haha take care!!!

yeah i played it in 2 different keys...i just did this to switch it up some. Just find the one that fits your voice best. I"m not sure what key the actual recording that Chris Tomlin did is.

hmm...as long as you have the chords pressed properly you can basically pick any of the strings you want. I'm not good at explaining how to pick each string, but as long as you are picking with that chord it'll sound good. Sorry i can't help more.

Hey Matt I've been watching your Videos for a while and the only reason I can't really learn song good is because they show the strumming paturn and they only use it for a little part of e song then they change it the strumming paturn never stays the same through out the song can you please give me some title of tip thanks and God bless you.

(con't) After some MORE practise I finally loosened up, learned to feel the music and the rhythm and with that came the ability to play any song and not worry about keeping a perfect strumming pattern God forbid I mess it up x) Keep in mind the steps to get there weren't perfect. At first, I tried and got easilly irritated when it was really choppy and sounded just plain bad. I also struggled with singing and playing at the same time for a while.

Thanks for this! I appreciate it! I'm still pretty new at this and my ear hasn't been completely trained yet, can you tell me the strumming pattern of the chorus?

i'm never good at explaining strumming patterns....the key is to focus on the timing of each chord...type in matt mccoy strumming and watch a couple of those vids and see if they can help you at all

Sorry I know this was meant for Matt but I couldn't help but answer heheh. Anyways, some tips for strumming...I know when I first started out playing I was sooo frustrated because the only thing I could do was straight down strumming. After a few more weeks and months of practise I realized I was trying way too hard to stay in time and keep a perfectly repeated strumming pattern that I wasn't even feeling the song and most important the rhythm.

How come you play different chords on your other video on the keyboard? I think you play it on c.. And here you play it on G. .. Is tht how is suppose to be?

(con't 2) Long story short, the best piece of advice I personally can give you is PRACTISE! (I know I hated that word too when that's what more advanced players told me) Take your time and be patient with yourself. If you had enough motivation to get through developping calluses, you'll get to being a natural at strumming too. Its just a matter of time. (: Hope I didn't bore you with my essay hahah. God bless!
