I lived this 50 year phenomenon! Your video was so well put together! I owned a 1975 GL1000, in 1977,78,79. Lost in a garage fire. I’m lucky enough to have bought a 2022 GL1833 Goldwing tour DCT. Definitely the “King of Kings”!! I’m sharing. JT in Cary Il.

What an outstanding history lesson on the bike we all love to ride. I really liked all the historical footage you dug up and integrated into this. This was something like what one would see if they toured a Honda Museum. Thank you for taking the time to put this together and share it with your followers. I hope the embedded AI analytics drive TH-cam visitors to your channel. This took a lot of work to put together, and I found it very informative. Thank you!

Thanks for the nice comment! This one took more time than most of my videos, but it was fun to learn so much about the Gold Wing story while making it. It made me appreciate the GL1000 more and it's got me thinking I need one in my stable. But then again, I feel the same way about the Super Cub and Interceptor after making similar videos about them. I need a bigger stable, LOL. Cheers!

You meet the nicest people on a Honda. And if I may add that you can meet all sorts of people when you ride your Honda all across this great land. Honda, after making motorcycling respectable to the American middle class with its development of the GL platform, made turn-key touring something to aspire to. It's akin to the classic rock band that started out with bubble-gum pop music and then gradually refining it's sound and transforming their audience in the process. Well done Honda and kudos to you Make, Fix, Engineer

Thanks! And well put - If I had had that classic rock band line for the video, I would have used it! Cheers!

You impressed me with our GW. You had same reason I bought my GW an you had several of my old bikes listed as previous bikes. I even got a call from Mr Honda an worked with him an my 750cb. (That's story in itself!). But I should have brought GW much sooner!

@@curttaylor7841 thanks for asking, but I finally decided against it. It was just too massive and heavy for me. I also realised that it would not be used much as I live in an urban area where my smaller bikes are more useful, and finally, I bought my dream car and I need the garage space to restore it.

Fantastically researched and well presented video. I had a ‘78 model with the 3 gauge dash and Comstars. Loved riding that bike, fast , smooth and minimal maintenance.

After riding my new 750 SS, with my Honda dealer friend on a new Gl1000, his brother on the new '76 750 SS on a trip from Oregon to Frisco, Ca. we were caught in a snow storm in the Siskiyou mountains on the return. The highway closed we stayed in a rest stop. My dealer friend called and had someone drive a truck down to pick us up. The GL would not fit in the truck with the 2 750's, so I offered to ride it in the snow over the mountains. It was incredibly stable and easy to ride back to Portland. I still own an original blue 1977 GL 1000 with 9000 miles. Now 74, I do not ride it much but am still impressed when I do.

Got a tear to my eye watching this. At 15 years old, I remember putting them together out of the box back in 75. Was my summer and weekend job there at a great shop I was partly sponsored by racing motocross in Chatham Ontario Canada.
Wasn't impressed, they were a damn site heavier than my motocross bikes, lol. Great memories though!

Every knee will bow … we bow now out of love, worship and adoration. His Name is above all others! God-Speed brother!
“Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

Have owned a 1984 it was a great bike . Yes I was a member of the Gold wing road riders .
The wing has faded away because Harley did a greater job of marketing in the 2000s . I think I could do another wing .

Thank you for the video! I am a long-time rider of BMW GS oilheads. These motorcycles go everywhere and without problems, and it's getting boring (damn, am I really getting old?) :)) But recently I bought a frame and a couple of GL1200 engines to make a motorcycle with the soul and for the soul :)
