I tried hair pin lace about 20 years ago. This was before YT. I could never grasp it. I still have my 2" loom and will try it again, thanks to your videos.
My grandmother taught me this 40 years ago and I was going to make something but never got the chance. Now I'm ready to get back to it. Thanks for the great tutorial 🧶💗
Nicely done and easy to understand. Haven't done this in years and am bedbound temporarily for the next few months so I need to have some projects going.
thanks for this video! My grandma passed away in early April and I found this tool, but had no idea what it was for (the color of the rods have me a good idea it was for crochet.) I'm glad to know how to use it now!
I found lace pieces that my great grandmother had crotched that are tiny but no one to tell me how to do this. Thank you for the tutorial! I wish she could have taught me.
Thank You Barnet for such a beautiful tutorial, and I have to tell you some funny trick about HairPin lace.I dont have it but I love this tool so I grabbed big huge paper clip and turned into it
Shame that you got no answers. I'm wondering the same thing. What on earth do people do with it? I've seen some nice looking knitwear, but don't want to make something huge as a first project.
Hi. They can be ordered online from Amazon, Wal Mart, Joann, Michael's, or anywhere craft and yarn supplies are sold usually. You want to be sure you look for the 12" adjustable loom so you can make a variety of projects in the future. I hope that helps. Happy hooking!
You can order one from Amazon and receive it in your country. In my opinion the best option is the 12" adjustable loom so you can make any size in the future. I like the Susan Bates 12" adjustable hair pin lace loom. I hope that helps. Happy hooking!
It will depend on what you want to make, the weight and type of yarn. For instance, I am making an infinity cowl. I am using Red Heart unforgettable roving yarn. I will use approximately 225 ( 205 meters) for the size I want. Which is a little more than one skien of yarn. You can easily make one skien scarves. All depends on what you are making.
bella, all you do for left handed is switch left for right and right for left. It's all the same steps but you're working right to left instead of left to right like in her video
Some typical items that are made with hairpin lace include scarves, shawls, hats, baby blankets, afghans, and clothing. Hairpin lace can also be added to sewn, knitted, and crocheted works as a decorative accent. :)
Wow this sucked, I'm a novice "crocheter" but I've made a few things from blankets to even pot holders and this was little hard to follow.. wish u would have done at least 2 more sets after the beginning before you proceeded to the end.

should the hairpin legs be long ?
My loom has 12 inch legs. I wouldn't want them any shorter. You can fit a lot on 12 inches. I haven't had any issues with it. Hope that helps.
Thanks for tutorials! It looks amazing and i wanna try it for making baby blanket. To be honest i cant wait :)
do you do the same thing if you're left handed?
bella, all you do for left handed is switch left for right and right for left. It's all the same steps but you're working right to left instead of left to right like in her video
