Hey Frost, since we just did an every relic is smooth stone run, maybe we could do Vajra next?
The phenomenon of one relic, the smooth stone, always being in the lead in terms of quantity is actually a really interesting concept in mathematics known as random walks. The idea is if you put a creature on a 2d number line and every move he makes is random, where would he end up at the end of an infinite amount of moves. While you might think the answer is simply right where he started, this isn’t necessarily the case. While moving in a particular direction is equally likely at every move, all moves are independent of each other and don’t care about the previous moves. For instance, say the person moves right twice, even though he is already to the right, he is still just as likely to move to the right again just as he is likely to move to the left. It is the same as imagining the person started at the 2 mark on the infinite number line. This time, logically we’d assume he wouldn’t end up back at the origin point after an infinite number of moves, so why do we assume they would end up where the started anyways? This concept has many of real world applications too, such as in Brownian motion, particle collisions and quantum mechanics, so if this is interesting I recommend researching more about it! There are a lot of educational/math TH-camrs who have talked about it so search it up!

It’s most LIKELY that all available options are chosen the same number of times, but other possibilities exist as well.
@@magi_stricide yes, but it’s also worth noting that a lot of the “ridiculousness” of the run comes from the gamblers paradox, or the idea that you got 3 stones so now you must get 3 vajras, which is untrue. The point of probability distribution is to compare ratios, and after an infinite number of relics obtained, the only thing that will become equal is the ratio of stones to vajras. It is just as likely to have 1 more stone as it is to have the same number of stones and vajras after and infinite number of moves (as is with any finite number), the only thing that is improbable is to maintain a biased ratio of 2:1 stones to vajras.

That’s the fun thing about random chance: with a large enough sample size it will start to trend toward the statistical average, but with small sample sizes? Goofy distributions can happen. Anyone who’s had a bad session of dnd where barely any roll shows above an unmodified 5 can attest to that

Well the one sidedness could be cause the random feature in most computers isn’t really random. If you think about it, a computer is a logic machine full of 0s and 1s. No space for randomness or errors. Don’t know the specifics to it, but many “true” random websites use external features, like a wind recording from a specific place to determine their version of randomness.
Ok doing the math: 12 stones (8 stone at end of game, 2 more from shop, and 2 more from chest) and 5 vajras (4 at end of game and 1 from shop) appeared.
There is around a 4.721% chance that of 17 relics, 12 are stones and 5 are vajras.
There is around a 14.346% chance that of 17 relics, there is a skew of 12+ relics being the same.
calc is: (17! / (12! * 5!)) * 0.5^17 = approx. 0.04721
(17! / (12! * 5!)) + (17! / (13! * 4!)) + (17! / (14! * 3!)) + (17! / (15! * 2!)) + (17! / (16! * 1!)) + (17! / (17! * 0!)) * 2 * 0.5^17 = approx. 0.14346

If it interacts like it should (aka each additional spoon halving the chance of exhausting the card), it could make for some very interesting, but not necessarily overpowered, builds. It would still have to at least be A20 probably, but could be cool.
