Dave Friedman teamed up with Jerry Cantrell and captured the Alice In Chains guitarist’s iconic tone and ferocity in the Friedman JJ-100 - Cantrell's first ever signature amp. The JJ-100 was an instant success. Not being the types to leave a great thing alone, they decided to cram all that punishing tone and grind into a stage-friendly 20-watt monster. Introducing, the Friedman JJ-Junior.
The JJ-Junior still gives you the same 2-channel, EL-powered tone that has carved out a legendary place in rock. All of the saturated, complex harmonic overtones are still lurking inside, as well as the AC30-like cleans. At 20 watts, the JJ-Junior lets you take the stage, studio, or jam session with total confidence.
Jerry and Dave spent years perfecting the "JJ" sound. Now, you can have the same tonal experience, in a smaller format, without sacrificing the attention to detail that goes into every Friedman amplifier.
The JJ Junior features and internal load and cab-simulated XLR output. Comparing this analog circuit to some of the most intricate computer-based IRs, Dave achieved a direct output you can proudly send to front of house or use in the studio. The JJ Junior also allows you to play "silently," meaning you can safely play the amp WITHOUT having a speaker cabinet connected. The XLR output includes a ground-lift, level, and center/edge of speaker cone simulation switches.
The JJ Junior was specifically designed to take pedals well especially boosts, ODs, phasers, flangers, tremolos, and wahs. The ultra-transparent buffered, series effects loop takes time-based effects pedals and rack units equally well. This is the exact same FX loop Friedman uses on all its amplifiers including the legendary BE-100. The head cabinet features beautiful black Tolex, with Baltic Birch construction and the same grille cloth used on the original JJ-100.

I own a JJ jr. Loud as hell through a 60's 4x12 Marshall with green backs. My studio is small it completely fills the room. I use a power soak because it is such a beast. Never had a 20 watter that had that much punch and still sounded great. They are worth every penny at $1500.00.
Can you get a nice Van Halen brown sound with the greenbacks and this amp?

The high gain setting are gorgeous. They have the right amount of hair, girth and clarity. I'd have disregarded this amp a few years back, but now my tastes in tone have changed.

I saw your video when it was first released and I just happened to run across it again this evening I wanted to tell you again what a great demo it was and is still and what a great promotion for Friedman truly, you did a great job I can also tell that you actually really like the amp yourself. That’s why I bought it when I saw this video the first time and it has paid off huge for me as a gigging amp for my local stuff it handles my great put it with a 2 x 12 cream only version and I love it. My man that was some seriously badass playing, as far as I'm concerned that tone at 0.50 is the holy grail of rock tone. I saw Alice in chains live last week in London, last year flew to Berlin to see them and sonisphere 2014. It's the same as Jerry's monster tone live on his big Friedman rig. Just awesome , great video 🤘

Geez... Just the intro made me say wow! I'm a drummer but i played in many bands with a great guitarist who was a tone chaser. He was constantly swapping out amps, etc so I got to know great guitar tones and this amp has them!
Also, that great guitarist has stuck with Friedman for many yrs now.

Hey all, so just got mine a couple of weeks ago, I am loving it!!! I have been touring with the little guy, and every sound engineer, asks, "Ado i need to drop a mic in front, I'm like no need to, XLR out in the back" Engineer,,,wow, that's sweet,,,great sound in the house! I absolutely love this head, through my Vintage Rivera Cab, sounds tight!!

Very tasty playing Michael. Its funny that I watched the Friedman Naked demo before this one, and you channeled some of those riffs and phrases in both videos, though JJ Jr being an older vid, it still sounds insanely huge and ballsy.

I have put off buying a new low wattage amp for the last few years because I new there was the perfect for me amp coming out soon. And here she is boys and girls!!! The hand signs and facial expressions told me most of what I needed to know, a quick shot of the back would have answered the rest. Extra credit for the wife's not home volume.
