Are You Capable of Riding a Green Horse? (Part 3)

  • In part 3 of this series, DeeDee is going to progress her green horse to riding outside.
Just as in part 2, DeeDee starts by reviewing the previous lessons. Ideally, the review sessions are getting shorter and shorter, but always take as much time as you need based on where your horse is at that day.
As you move on in your sessions with your green horse, you want to start riding more assertively and less like a passenger as time goes on. You want to slowly keep building on the foundation you set. It is wise to be sure you have total control over the movement in the round pen before you ride with more space outside.
I count a session successful if my horse tried, and we made some improvements from the last ride.
I hope this video series encourages you to push beyond what you think your limits are. As always, stay safe and have fun!
Until next time, may God bless the trails you ride!

I really enjoyed this three part series. The idea behind what you’re doing would apply to horses of any age I presume ? Doing some light groundwork and working out some kinks before getting on your horse ? Is that a smarter way to ride ? Do you ever just jump on a horse ? I feel like most people just tack up and ride but I don’t have that level of confidence…looking for some ideas I guess

    Green horse without a helmet???
    It's just not smart.

A hat serves as a helmet of sorts

Western riders just don’t seem to wear helmets. Not sure why not. Maybe it’s uncool. 🤠🤷‍♀️
