Don't listen to those who are telling you not to eat whatever it is you are creating that day because that is your right. I'm a fellow West Virginian and use jalapenos in a lot of my cooking including spaghetti sauce, chili, soups, whatever. A lot of people are leary of them because of the reputation but I've found that the heat varies in them as much as banana peppers. And the flavor is well worth the heat! I make a cream cheese based cheese ball for the holidays but I can't wait to try this one! Thanks Sara!

The jalapenos vary on heat based on season and climate they grow in too!! Some years, even the weather has affected the spice of hot peppers that I grow. It's pretty interesting stuff. Plus the dairy in this recipe will help cut the spice for people or are leery. And the smokiness of the bacon 😚👌 chef's kiss!

You are absolutely right. The differences we end up with in all vegetables depending on type of growing season are amazing. I can a large amount of my vegetables and give a lot to friends and family. I began to cook on a whim when our kids were small. We both worked so I wanted to take on more of the after work workload. 30 years later I'm still learning and any input is always helpful! Thanks!

I've had cheese balls and logs-typically rolled in herbs, nuts, or even fruit-you do not need to add bacon to everything and you can certainly omit rolling the cheese in cheese.

If you can’t stand the heat from the jalapeño then clean out the seeds and place it all in ice water for 45 to 50 minutes. Takes most of the heat away sometimes all of it

Go easy on the salt? That is a salt bomb recipe. Cheese is full of salt (especially cheddar). Bacon is salted meat. Not one speck of additional salt was needed. I love that CC printed out 'chaws' instead of chives.
Is this for a church picnic or something? The ball looks like it's as big as my head! It would take a year to eat all that. I don't even know how to go about reducing that recipe to make a fist sized cheeseball for a normal sized family.

Doesn't seem it was mixed together very well. Scrape that crap out on plastic wrap. Cover it with the plastic wrap. Roll it around on the counter top(stove) to make a ball. Unwrap. And roll in crushed Ritz, nut pieces, bacon bits, chives, parsley, etc.
