    I have the orange flashing light - plugged it on and it’s still flashing slowly (orange). Not getting the solid orange light and it’s been plugged in for over an hour now. This is a very frustrating side of the Sonos experience. I’m constantly trying to figure out how to properly shut it down and since I often go to sleep while listening to music or podcasts using my little Sonos speaker, I fall asleep - it would be nice if you could set it to automatically shut down when you want that option. Great video!

    Do you feel like the power button on the back does not have much feedback or umph to it or is that just mine? It's always like I have to press too hard to know if I'm really even pressing it.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      EXACTLY. It feels like a dead/squashed button. Unless you happen to press it in the exact perfect spot. Hopefully this is not an indicator that this button will stop working someday. As you can see, it’s pretty critical to keeping battery life in check.

    Hi - many thanks for your helpful video. Just purchased 2 Roam's - the status of LED's are somewhat unclear ! Is there any LED indication of when the battery is fully charged - the SONOS documentation offers no answer.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No indicator of charge level except it will show up on your phone when connected over Bluetooth and I believe also in Sonos app. Device works consistently if you understand the behavior described in the video, but without that insight it can be terribly frustrating! See the other videos I have on it for further explanation. I wish you the best.

  • @eointyrrell

    I was wondering what that light meant, thanks!
    By any chance do you know if you can use the Roam without ever having configured it thru the App on a wifi network? I just got the Roam as a gift and I'm away from home with no access to Wifi. I was hoping to use this as a Bluetooth speaker in the meantime but can't get it to work. Not a whole lot of into out there but I did see one person suggest it needs to be configured in the app before using BT.

      @@ApacheRanch Update. Attempted after an hours charging. Fail. I only getting flashing white "The Sonos product is booting up after being plugged into power. The status light will also flash white while it’s waiting to connect to the network." - and flashing green "The Sonos product is powered on and ready to be set up. It has not yet been configured or connected to a Sonos system." So I'm guessing you cant do anything with it until it's been configured. Does the amber light stay on while charging??

  • @ethanisntonline
    @ethanisntonline 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Roam needs to charge to 10% before it powers itself back on. And people having issues with charging are likely using a 5W brick that came with their iPhone - it’s not sufficient to charge it, at least very quickly. Rumor is that the battery won’t be charged to the proper amount unless you can get your hands on a 10-18W brick. Don’t use anything over 18W. I caved and ordered the wireless charger through Sonos’ website today cause of similar charging issues.

      yeah, check the smart speaker feature to make sure it was not listening. See my other video about how to actually turn the thing all the way off also - it's not intuitive at all how to do it. Thanks for your comment.

    Great speaker when it’s working but so bloody confusing when it doesn’t and all you get is different coloured lights steady or flashing. What is so difficult about putting an on/off button, volume and Bluetooth buttons on it. Arrrrgh

    I really dislike this speaker the battery sucks! I'm a big sonos fan but this speaker is not performing to expectations. One example went to the beach battery life is suppose to be up to 10 hours this speaker started dieing after 4 hours thank goodness I had a portable battery. The sound quality is nice but not really happy customer.

      I totally understand. Do you remember if you had the voice assistant turned on when you got the bad battery life?

    Have orange flashing, plugged it in, and voila, still orange flashing, no change. So no thumbs up, as you offered no help

      Let it sit plugged in for some time. See if it will take a charge. The flashing orange indicates that the battery is fully drained, and it needs to build a charge. I hope this helps.

      Yeah, it's frustrating. But mine is still working and now that I understand how to turn on/off/reset etc it's been workable. Thanks for your comment.
