for its simple honesty this song breaks my heart and bring a tear to my eyes every time i hear it. such honesty, such compassion..... sung with so much feeling. a classic, forever!
Every I ear this it kill me! This is not just a song… This is another version that you should appreciate. The image and the way that they look to each other remembered me that one day I was young and truly in Love 😢
Wow, this is something! I fell in love with this song hearing Barbra Streisand sing it in her '06 concert tour. I was hypnotized. I told my voice teacher I wanted to sing it. She said she never heard it sung by a man before, but here it is!! But hey, I was first!!
Ive known Grif since he was a toddler and all I can say is this boy is gifted,no tricks, no electronic "enhancements" just pure talent*. Go Grif! *and lots of hard work
some one must have watch me cry in my sleep, and just took out pen and paper and came up with this beautiful piece...that would be my heart he's singing about.
Every I ear this it kill me! This is not just a song… This is another version that you should appreciate. The image and the way that they look to each other remembered me that one day I was young and truly in Love 😢
What a beautiful song. What a pleasure to hear a real singer-----he understands a singing sound and can pronounce lyrics clearly and unmannered. American idol has trained so many to accept singing on pitch as true singing. I do not agree it takes what Griffith presents. A beautiful vocal sound, a singing line , and understanding the meaning of the words. This fellow shows a first rate training back ground-----a great teacher and coach. Don Pippin, musical director.
0:11 I first heard this song in the Melbourne staging of Nine in 1987. Sung by Peta Toppano as Claudia Nardi and John Diedrich as Guido Contini, it was heartfelt and impassioned, and for years it was my preferred version. Until Grif. Bless you my boy, you made an old man cry again.
@timtimato1 - Excellent rendition by Mr. Frank. He has indeed set a high bar for a male version of this song. He has great prospects for a long musical career. However, there is another man who has also done a spectacular version named John Barrowman. Different voice tone, style, and timber, but equally as good in it's own way. It's on youtube as well.
Nope. Listened to about a dozen versions including Jobn B's, some men too; but NOBODY can touch the beauty of this man's version. Nope nope +again I say absolutely nope. Griffith Frank is the winner by a landslide. The most emotionally invested + his style is absolute perfection.
My ex-partner told me about this song, he is a baritone classical singer and wanted him to sing this song in a show but life happened, we separated and this song just brakes my heart.when I listen to it.
I discovered this song tonight, having watched 'Nine' and then checked out the soundtrack on Spotify. A beautiful version of a beautiful song. I will look further......
you have an amazing, pure and beautiful sound. This song when sung by you sends shivers down my spine, in a good way. Ive to sing this in two weeks in London.
hahaha this guy went to my school! He came to my choir and talked to us and SANG THIS SONG! Good god I love him! His voice is so amazing! Though I have to say....he is much hotter in person. Like, seriously, I died when he started singing. :D
Lyrics: In a very unusual way One time I needed you In a very unusual way You were my friend Maybe it lasted a day Maybe it lasted an hour But somehow it will never end In a very unusual way I think, I'm in love with you In a very unusual way I want to cry Something inside me goes weak Something inside me surrenders And you're the reason why You're the reason why You don't know what you do to me You don't have clue You can't tell what it's like To be me looking at you It scares me so that I can hardly speak In a very unusual way I owe what I am to you Though at times It appears I won't stay, I never go Special to me in my life Since the first day that I met you How could I ever forget you Once you had touched my soul? In a very unusual way You've made me whole
To Griffith Frank: You're an excellent singer. I don't think much of this song -- the lyric is lame and in places it doesn't work musically, but you really give it your all and try to sell it. You have an exquisite voice. If you read this, pls let me know if you have any released recordings. Thanks. Rudi Logan
@mithusLost I disagree... I'm guessing it's because he's a classically trained singer (unlike most recording artists) so when he sings he pronounces every word properly... So even when lip syncing for the video he's doing that... If you ever watch a Broadway actor sing close up, it's kinda funny looking... But they sound so much better because of it...
@Aleenapoo No, he hasn't appeared on Broadway - yet. He's an undergraduate in the Voice Performance program at UCLA. I'm his voice prof (you should hear him sing opera!) and ChristophePhilippe is also right - big things in his future, if our culture has any taste.
@TheArnie125 He doesn't appear in the film. The song was written as a duet between Guido Contini and Claudia Nardi, and sung in the movie by Nicole Kidman.
@eightyeighters You're trying to hate, but if you really want to hate, then make a point, don't just say he's gay. It's 2012 and at this point in time, it's considered UNCOOL to hate on gay people. I would feel embarrased and quickly change that.
I agree...this would be an awesome duet with Streisand. He is special. And holy COW, someone posted something about him being gay, here. Are you fricking kidding me? He isn't kissing another man...he is singing...grow the fuck up!
Mitch Bouton Don't know why anyone would post that. The song's lyrics are pretty ambiguous when you read them. Just cause, textually, it's a woman singing to a man doesn't mean it can't be a man singing to a woman, or a woman singing to another woman, or a man singing to another man. That's what makes this song work with almost any singer.
Great version!
By far the best rendition of this song, vocal and lyric interpretation 100%, he just feels every word.
A song of passion and longing that lends itself to a thousand interpretations.
I love this song. Absolutely Beautiful 💙💚💙
B R A V O ! A most lovely arrangement of this Nine song. It’s a 10 from me 🪧
I just cannot get enough of this video and song. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL in all ways!
for its simple honesty this song breaks my heart and bring a tear to my eyes every time i hear it. such honesty, such compassion..... sung with so much feeling. a classic, forever!

You can say that ... I mean, you can type that again! His voice is sick. So smooth and so beautiful. See that he has more videos, thank goodness.
He’s very nice too

Remarkable. Great arrangement. Great voice. Great lyrics. Great melody. Great interpretation. This fellow should have a long and successful career.

In an unusual way I fall in love with you too and of your nice performance #Griffith
Beautiful!
You must be famous man !
Lyrics:
In a very unusual way
One time I needed you
In a very unusual way
You were my friend
Maybe it lasted a day
Maybe it lasted an hour
But somehow it will never end
In a very unusual way
I think, I'm in love with you
In a very unusual way
I want to cry
Something inside me goes weak
Something inside me surrenders
And you're the reason why
You're the reason why
You don't know what you do to me
You don't have clue
You can't tell what it's like
To be me looking at you
It scares me so that I can hardly speak
In a very unusual way
I owe what I am to you
Though at times
It appears I won't stay, I never go
Special to me in my life
Since the first day that I met you
How could I ever forget you
Once you had touched my soul?
In a very unusual way
You've made me whole
I could listen to list till I fell asleep !
Never heard of him . . but lovely singing and excellent version of the song. Equal to Nicole K's I'd suggest.
Fun Fact : David Frank from the 80s group "The System" was his father.
To Griffith Frank: You're an excellent singer. I don't think much of this song -- the lyric is lame and in places it doesn't work musically, but you really give it your all and try to sell it. @TheArnie125 He just sings the song, but I believe he appeared on Broadway for this musical.
@LesKH both version are great
Where are you, Griffith? I should have seen you on American Idol, America's Got Talent, or The Voice.
I love how the description says By Nicole Kidman when the piece is written by Mary Yeston and first performed by Shelly Burch
@mithusLost

Those lips...........nuff said.
I haven't seen the movie Nine yet, does he appeared in the movie?? or he just sings the song
Arnie Snow This song is on NINE Collector’s DVD Features 💕
@TheArnie125 He doesn't appear in the film. The song was written as a duet between Guido Contini and Claudia Nardi, and sung in the movie by Nicole Kidman.
@Ilb0017 They are coming :)
my singing teacher hehe
Henric Emdenborg same
THIS WORKS SO WELL BECAUSE IT IS SO HAUNTING...NOT A BIG SHOWY BELT NUMBER ( AS OFTEN DONE)
I didn't know Ron DeSantis could sing so well!
Sounds so perfect done by a guy for once.
Do you know the other Frank Griffith the Sax player my brother in law?
@eightyeighters You're trying to hate, but if you really want to hate, then make a point, don't just say he's gay. It's 2012 and at this point in time, it's considered UNCOOL to hate on gay people. I would feel embarrased and quickly change that.

@LesKH i disagree
Barbra Streisand also does a great version of this song.
and if he is gay? who cares?
I care. I hope he is gay and single!!
@@MaxVliet His X page has pictures of him with a woman and kids. I'm guessing he's straight.
Beautiful but John Barrowman sings it better.
Really? So why don't you go write your comment under John Barrowman's video? Here is for Griffith Frank.
