  • Previously, we had a a look at late war British/Canadians. in this next fun-loving and mature episode some of the available late war German grenadiers will be scrutinized. So, grab yourself a beer, kick back and enjoy. These guys have been around for a while, but if you are planning a 1944-45 Grenadier unit, this may help you decide which figs will do the trick.

Thanks for the review/comparison. You mention it when talking about PP but there is some sort of nebulous, hard to describe, "character" that the old BF and Piggies have that plastics dont quite manage. Technically good and detailed but lacking that character. You need to show off your painted figures more. Great painting plus your fantastic bases elevate them to the next level. Well done!

I concur with your observations again. I mix and match the PP and Battlefront without much problem (I play Chain of Command in 15mm so most of the figures are individually based). I am also one of those speed painters. One advantage of the PP figures is that really seem to be made to take a wash. Just block painting the main uniform areas and then using something like Citadel Agrax Earthshade over the top, just brings the PP figures to life.

For me the size variation is good. As I have not seen a normal squad with all the troops the same size. Many armies select troops between 5'6" to 6' 6", but in war time those height requirements are relaxed. What I do look for is the weapons changing size dramaticaly.
What I do like about the Peter Pig figs is that there are more troops carrying ammo, and spare equipment than I have seen in other ranges. :)

Yes, for me, if helmets and weapons are consistent, actual height or beefiness of the troops can vary. There was quite a range of heights and physiques in my platoon.

Could you do a vid on the casualty figures from Peter Pig please? I noticed some in your minis and have been thinking of picking up a few packs of prisoners, medics and casualties. Love the channel!

Thanks, Mr. Doom! Yup, I can do that, it's in the works. Peter Pig's casualties are great.

Methinks in unison and with a great deal of zealousness.

@@daviessuperchannel indeed...the whole soft plastic crap being produced is really poor and a desperate flakey attempt to try to get ahead of 3D printing which truly will herald us breaking free of prescriptive reductive and poor games. We will see innovation and I hope a return to old school wargaming although so many people want everything provided on a plate that I am sure they will keep paying ridiculous prices for the same and even worse quality crap and by doing so keep the prices high.

You can always count on brook stoners! I am definitely going to make more in the near future. I just moved to a different province, once I get settled there will be more celebrations of ignorance like this one. There will also be more metal as I just moved back to the province where my band lives and we are working on a new album.

The Plastic Soldier Americans are a little disappointing as they do not match the Late War Germans in size and detail. Peter Pig Americans are more of a match for the LWG's but not the PS Americans.

I agree with that assessment. I think the flames of war plastic and metal Americans are bigger than both PP and PSC, but the closest scale match to said Germans.
