    Smallrig makes a new power adapter that looks exactly like yours, except you don't have to turn it on, and it doesn't have the battery level indicator. Plus it is only cost about 25 bucks. The NPF batteries seem to last forever, so I figured I wouldn't miss the battery level indicator. With the money saved, I bought more batteries.

    My BMPCC has been sort of sitting around for over a year. (I use the newer version regularly). This video makes me think it might be time to dig out that old camera and put it back into use.

    Thank you for your review. However, I was told that this battery plate would not work with the bmpcc. Is there a part number for this adapter?

  • @attapun_an
    @attapun_an 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I had to think of a different solution because my second hand bmpcc had the opposite problem (12v dc port broke). I ended up making a dummy battery for it that fed off a powerbank and it's working quite well so far

    Also, another important detail about this adapter is the fact that the battery is secured in place with a very well designed brass safety lock button. And the 1/4-20 screw comes with a D-ring making the tool-less mount and unmount of the battery adapter possible. Thank you for this reminder.

      The plastic works fine, and honestly isn't bad solution, per se. This one - while more expensive - just has a couple advantages like the 1/4 screw built-in, metal construction, and battery levels. None of those are really a "must have". Thanks!

    Hi great video. I know it's been awhile but I wanted to know does the display on the bmpcc shows "full 100%" if the NP battery is "full" or does it only show the power available in the bmpcc internal battery and just extends the time? Hope I explained that ok :)

    For a better battery solution, that is also gimbal friendly, I am thinking of using a monitor that has the ability to power the camera as well. That way, I've killed two birds with one stone, and not added any weight to the camera (the monitor mounting directly to either the gimbal, or the dual-handle grip). Currently, I'm still using the internal battery.

    I bought the plastic one for my own blackmagic camera. But when I put the np battery, it doesn't run the camera. When I measured the voltage coming out of the converter it was 6.89 volts What should be the lowest value. Is the problem in the battery or in my converter? Thank you for your help.

    What was your feeling on using the Freeworld monitor power output feed? I am using my monitor to power my BMPCC and it seemingly works fine. I can use just one battery to power the external monitor and the camera. I know that the rated output wasn't 12v, but it didn't seem to matter. The saving grace for me was that the original batteries were 7.4v, and that the Freeworld kicks out 7.4v seems to be sufficient for the BMPCC even though the external port is rated for 12v.

    • @FilmPhotowithMatt
      @FilmPhotowithMatt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my experience as well. I had/have no issues powering the camera with the Feelworld monitor. Several people commented and asked on the last video about potential issues, but I didn't notice any. Only thing I might've noticed was the NP-F battery on the monitor drains a little more quickly, but that's to be expected. It works well, imo. The battery plate option in this video is great for people who'd like to travel with the camera, throw it in their bag, etc., while keeping a lower profile. Thanks Hugh!
